Jerry Lopez, 55, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in Roswell, New Mexico surrounded by his loved ones. There will be a viewing at Anderson Bethany Chapel on Tuesday January 30th, 2024, from 9:00 am – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Anderson Bethany Chapel on January 31st, 2024, at 10:00 am with Pastor Joshua De Los Santos officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Jerry was born on July 18, 1968, to Simon Bermea and Hortencia Lopez Valles in San Antonio, Texas. At the age of 18 Jerry moved to Roswell, New Mexico where he attended Roswell Job Corp and received his certifications as a Nurse Technician. Jerry met the love of his life, Alma, in Roswell and after only knowing each other for 6 short months they got married and were one month shy of celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. In the nearly 35 years of marriage Jerry and Alma had three children and were blessed with four grandbabies. Jerry’s grandchildren were everything to him and he loved attending their sporting and dancing events. Jerry spent many years cheering on his two daughters as they played soccer. He always made sure to be their biggest fan and their greatest supporter. It brought Jerry great joy to see all four of his grandkids play soccer, and watching his oldest granddaughter do Folklorico dancing. After working 22 years for the State of New Mexico he retired from the Roswell Rehabilitation Center. Jerry was a ‘foodie’ who loved to try new foods and watching anything having to do with Korean or Asian culture. Jerry spent his time with the love of his life Alma, if you saw Jerry, Alma was always close by. They spent most of their time watching Korean dramas, and the food network together. Some of Jerry’s greatest memories were the times he spent deer hunting with his family. Jerry was a wonderful husband, an amazing dad, and the greatest pops ever. He will be deeply missed by all. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Jerry are his loving wife, Alma Lopez of Roswell, NM; oldest daughter, Caitlin and husband Jason Montez (Roswell, NM); daughter, Stephanie and husband Nicholas Sedillo (Roswell, NM); and son, Simon Lopez (Roswell, NM); His four grandchildren: Harper Sedillo, Elijah Sedillo, Gunner Montez, and Eleanor Sedillo; his mother, Hortencia L Valles (San Antonio, TX); sister, Laura Trimble; brother, Marcos Valles Jr (San Antonio TX); sister, Michelle Valles (San Antonio, TX); sister, Velma and husband Leo Diaz Sr (San Antonio, TX); brother, Adolf Valles (San Antonio, TX); brother in laws: Ricardo and wife Sarah De Los Santos (Capitan, NM), Eduardo and wife Anita De Los Santos (Roswell, NM), and sister-in-law Sandra and husband Michael Gonzales (Roswell, NM); and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry is proceeded in death by his father, Simon Bermea; grandmother, Teodora Lopez; stepfather, Marcos Valles Sr.; brothers: Rudy Lopez, Andrew Valles; sister, Karina Valles; and mother-in-law, Maria Elena De Los Santos. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jerry’s nephews, Matthew Gonzales, Greg De Los Santos, Marcus Gonzales, Leo Diaz Jr, Andres Diaz, and best friend of 21 years, Jeremy Spain. The family of Jerry wishes to extend sincere thanks to the UNM MICU staff, UNM Medical staff, and the staff from Gentiva Hospice in Roswell, NM. Jerry’s tribute was written in his honor by his family.
