ABUNDIA LIBREROS CASTRO MONTERO Beloved Wife of Crescencio P. “Mike” Montero Born in Paso de Ovejas, Veracruz, Mexico Parents: Rosario Libreros Conde (father), Cecelia Castro Rodriguez (mother) Abundia was our beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who emigrated with her husband Crescencio “Mike” Montero from Veracruz, Mexico to Roswell, New Mexico in the early 1950s to start their family and provide the best opportunities for them as possible. Early on, she worked in the cotton fields with her husband to help support their growing family but was mostly a stay-at-home mom who always enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Despite living in the USA, she always remembered her roots and family (particularly her first-born son, father, sisters and brother) in Veracruz and visited whenever possible. She is well known for saying phrases such as “Si se puede”; “Alli esta el detalle”; Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres”; “Mis munequitos or munequitas” and especially “Please? Or Fleas?!?”. She loved gardening, playing pranks, was proud of her ability to drive standard and of her flawless 55-year driving record, and always enjoyed playing with her grandkids. Once she grabbed one of them, she never wanted to let them go. She was particularly proud for completing her Adult Basic Education and obtaining her US Citizenship. She attended St. John’s Catholic Church until her health wouldn’t allow her to attend. She always enjoyed watching her favorite actor Pedro Infante and any Cantinflas movie. She always had a laugh or joke for friends and family and will be dearly missed. Children: Julio Palmeros Libreros (Lucia), Step-daughter Guillermina Montero, Angelina M. McCord (Samuel), Joe Montero (Gerianne), Oscar J. Montero, Baby Jose Montero, Estella Fain (Steven), Margarita Montero (Arturo), Jaime Montero (Antonette), Frank Montero, and Crescencio Montero Jr. (Veronica) Grandchildren: Oswald Palmeros Suarez, Marissa Fain (Rogelio), Michael Montero (Maribel), Christopher Montero (Alexandra), Crystal Montero - Nevarez (Louie), Oscar Montero Jr. (Kimberly), Nicholas Montero, Christina Montero, Edward Saavedra, James Saavedra, Candice McCallon, Eric McCord, Bridget Wright Great-Grandchildren: Aisha Fain, Alexandria Fain (Keanu), Dafne Palmeros, Denisse Palmeros, Athalia Fain, Noah Vazquez, Isaiah Vazquez, Jadon Leamon, Ryan Montero, Nayeli Montero, Elijah Nevarez, Mia Nevarez, Genive Joe Montero, Jezzabel Montero, Eliza Montero, Noah Saavedra, Camilla McCallon, Gisele McCallon, Lucas Saavedra, Harper Saavedra, Jackson McCord Great-Great Grandchildren: Selena Cordero and BriAnne Fain Preceded in death were her parents; her husband Crescencio “Mike” Montero; Jose (Joe) R. Montero (Son); Infant son Jose Montero; sisters: Sylvestra L. Lagunes, Leonila L. Tirado, and brother: Guadalupe Libreros – of Veracruz Mexico. Pallbearers: Oscar Montero Sr., Oscar Montero Jr., Crescencio Montero Jr., Christopher Montero, Samuel McCord, Elijah Nevarez, Arturo Garcia and Leon Hawthorne. Honorary Pallbearers: Julio Palmeros Libreros, Jaime Montero, Frank Montero, Michael Montero, Nicholas Montero, Rogelio Arias, and Louis Nevarez. Special thanks to our many lifetime family friends in particular: Faye Silva and Family; Andy Cardona and family; The Nena/Joe Mendiola family; The Leonor/Jesus Baca family; The Pauline/Carmen Rodriguez family; The Minda/Teo Gutierrez family; The Manuela/Chon Ramirez family; Arturo Garcia; Leon Hawthorne; and Bobby Garcia. Due to COVID-19, a reception will not be held after services nor at the family home.
