Adolfo Garcia Florez, 73, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Please take a moment to share a kind thought or memory with the Florez family at www.andersonbethany.com. There will be a viewing held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held the following morning, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Church on the Move in Roswell, New Mexico. Born in Artesia, New Mexico, Adolfo was a kind, caring, and determined man who touched the lives of all who knew him. He passed away surrounded by the love of his family. After graduating from high school, Adolfo briefly attended New Mexico State University before beginning work as a plant operator for Kerley Chemical inside the refinery. He worked diligently, never missing a day’s work until he became disabled, at which point his life took a new direction. Never one to give up on his dreams, Adolfo later enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell to pursue his dream of becoming a Spanish teacher. He thrived in his studies and looked forward to completing his education at the ENMU campus in Portales. Unfortunately, due to his declining vision and inability to drive, he was unable to finish the final steps of his degree. Still his love of learning and education never ceased. In the years that followed, Adolfo dedicated himself fully to his greatest joy, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether they were going to the library, grabbing a bite at McDonald’s, exploring the flea market, visiting the pet store, taking a ride on the city bus or walking the railroad tracks behind the house, he made sure every moment was an adventure. His presence made everyday moments feel special. Even while undergoing dialysis and facing physical limitations, Adolfo remained active. He was often seen exercising, always pushing himself to get stronger, hoping to one day walk without any assistance. Adolfo will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and the gentle way he supported and uplifted those around him. His memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. Those left to eternally treasure fond memories of Adolfo are his wife Sally Matta Florez; children, Renee Raymond-Perez (Rick) and Peggy Raymond-Rubio (Fermin); grandchildren, Anthony Sosa (Christina), Jared Marquez Sr. (Cassandra), Jari Rubio, Jillian Rubio, and Camille Rubio; great-grandchildren, Essance Sosa, who Adolfo raised like a daughter, Jared Marquez Jr., Elauteria Tegeda-Sosa, Amareya Tegeda-Sosa; siblings, Cruz Barriga, Lolly Salas, Felix Flores, Martin Florez, Joe Flores, and Carlos Flores; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Zia. Awaiting to welcome Adolfo into eternal rest are his daughter, Donna Christine Florez; parents, Claro Flores and Eduarda Garcia; grandparents, Jose and Joveta Flores and Juan and Antonia Hernandez; siblings, Jesse Flores and Johnny Flores; and nephew, Jerry Flores. Honored to carry Adolfo to his final resting place are Anthony Sosa, Jared Marquez Sr., Joseph Flores, Felix Flores, Johnny Flores Jr., and Benjamin Florez.
