Agnes Gonzales

Agnes “Natie” Helen Gonzales, 62, of Roswell peacefully passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at the family home surrounded by her children, sisters, and family. Services for Agnes “Natie” Gonzales will be a Rosary, 7pm, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home with Deacon Ernie Martinez officiating. Mass at 10 am, Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Juan Antonio Gutierrez OFM officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Viewing hours will be held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, and Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 from 8am to 8pm. She was born Agnes Helen Gonzalez on July 25, 1949 to George Griego Gonzalez and Patsy Guevara in Roswell. Agnes was a loving mother to her children. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, unicorns, Spanish music, and made the best tortillas. Being a Grandma and Great Grandma brought her great joy and accomplishment. She loved playing crazy “April Fools” jokes on all her children. No words are great enough to express what our mother meant to her family and friends. Those left to cherish Agnes’ memory are daughters, Patricia Melendez of Roswell and Linette Washington of Roswell; sons, Emeterio “Jay” Granado and wife Serena of Albuquerque and Marcus James Granado of Roswell; grandchildren, Ricky Granado and wife Emily of Roswell, Agnes Granado of Roswell, Bianca Byrd of Arizona, Alice Granado of Albuquerque, Joshua Buenrostro of Arizona, Anthony Merryfield, Anna Molina, Dezaray Samario, Emilia Granado, Kaitlyn O’Dell, Jaylene Granado, Richard Granado, Marky J Granado, Felicity Granado, Dee Anna Nuñez, Linetle Dominguez, Lisa Dominguez, Kiera Washington, Dedra Nash, Timothy “Tim” Nash all of Roswell; great grandchildren, Lucas Granado of Roswell, Juanito Olivares of Albuquerque, Adlai Buenrostro Ogas of Roswell, Nataliya “Lil Natie” Najar Dominguez, Johnny Ray Anthony Dominguez Ortiz of Roswell, and two more on the way; brothers, Manuel G. Gonzales of Clovis, David Gonzales and wife Dora of Roswell, Ted G. Gonzales and wife Maria, and Michael A. Peralta; sisters, Caroline G. Silvas and husband Raymond of Roswell, Mary Hope Trujillo and husband Miguel of Albuquerque, Rachel G. Serna of Roswell, Becky Garcia and husband Sammy of Roswell, Tammy Southerland and husband Scott of Roswell, and Gloria Peralta of Clovis; special friends, Robert Zacniewski and family, Steve Silva, Belinda Harris, Gloria Chavez, and Rosie Buennostro; and if we left anyone out, please do not be offended, our mom had many special people in her life. Both parents precede her in death as well as first husband, George Washington; second husband, Charlie Gonzales; brothers, Luis G. Gonzales and Lloyd G. Gonzales; sisters, twin sisters, Alice Marie Gonzales, Ruth Ann Gonzales, and Petra Gonzales; nephews, Daniel Greg Peralta and Lukas Peralta; nieces, Elisa “Lisa” Fresquez and Ernestina Gonzales; daughter, Aurora Victoria “Vickie” Granado; and great grandson, Joel Granado Jaramillo. Special Thanks to those that assisted our mother during her illness, Dr. Badine and the Kymera Cancer Center Staff, Frances and the Vista Care Staff, Ramona Barron, Jeanette Salcido, William “Shrek” Boykin and Della Coronado. Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Sena, Tony Montaño, Arthur Acevedo, Ricky Granado, Johnny Ray Ortiz, Mach Peralta, Anthony Merryfield, and Marky J Granado. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is Gone! You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and lived yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she’s gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
