Obituary for Anita Acosta Meraz Anita Acosta Meraz, passed away on February 11, 2015. She was born on September 28, 1934 in Loving, NM, to Felipe and Marianna Lara Acosta. Anita was married to Adan Soto Meraz for 40 years. Anita spent many years before she retired, working at Mission Arch Care Center as a nurse. Being dressed from head to toe and matching her entire wardrobe, from earrings to socks, shoes and clothing was a must for Anita. Just ask her favorite hairdresser, Cary Candelaria, who did Anita’s hair often! She loved taking care of her yard, especially her roses. But, Anita’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and family. Preceding Anita in death is her beloved husband, Adan Meraz and two sons, Robert Martinez and Ricky Martinez and two grandsons, Ricky Martinez, Jr. and Eugene (Turtle) Perez, Jr. Also preceding her in death are both parents, Felipe & Marianna Acosta; two sisters, Elva Munoz and Dora Garcia and one brother, Emilio Acosta. Those remaining to cherish Anita’s memory are: daughters, Gloria Ramirez and her husband Antonio of Oakdale, MN; Lydia Martinez of Allen, TX; Carol Vallejos and her husband Tommy of Clarkville, TN; Priscilla Salcido of Roswell, NM; and sons, Rafael Martinez of Roswell, NM; and Armando Meraz of Albuquerque, NM. Additionally surviving Anita are two brothers, Cruz Acosta of Hobbs, NM, and Ernesto Acosta of Carlsbad, NM, and one sister, Mary Lou Acosta of Midland, TX. Also surviving to carry on her legacy are 25 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 1:00 to 8:00 PM and Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. A Prayer Service will be at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 7:00 PM. Rosary for Anita will be Monday, February 16, 2015, 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Mass will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 10:00 AM, at St. Peters Catholic Church, in Roswell, NM. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Pallbearers serving in Anita’s honor will be Daniel Martinez, Frank Alavardo Meraz, Matthew Meraz, Mark Meraz, Armando Meraz, Jr., Jesse Martinez, Tommy Joe Vallejos and Jacob Vallejos.
