Arthur Acevedo

Our beloved Dad and Brother went to heaven on December 30, 2011, surrounded by his family, at Roswell Regional Hospital after a short illness. His Mom and Dad greeted Arthur at the doors of heaven. Arthur was born December 17, 1963 to Filemon and Belia Acevedo. Arthur was a lifelong resident of Roswell, New Mexico and attended Goddard High School. Arthur worked for many years in the food industry. Most recently he was employed at Pepper's Bar and Grill. Arthur was a true Dallas Cowboy Fan. Arthur loved his daughters with all of his heart and soul, His daughters were the light of his life. Arthur loved his family and was very close to his sisters and brothers, as well as his nieces and nephews. Arthur is survived by his two daughters, Alisha Acevedo and Alexis Acevedo; his sisters Liz Aguilar and her husband Joe, Sylvia Mendoza; his brothers Mike Acevedo and his companion, Lupita and Larry Acevedo and his wife Brenda. Nephews and nieces, Christopher Mendoza and his wife, Sandra, Michael Mendoza and his companion Yadira, Michael Acevedo and his companion Erika, Joseph Aguilar and his wife Veronica, Robert Aguilar and his companion Silvia, Jessica Acevedo, Erica Acevedo, Matthew Acevedo, Tre Acevedo and Larrisa Acevedo; his Uncle Frank "Kiko" Vasquez and his wife Sheila, numerous great nephews and nieces and his special friend, Carlos Meza. Arthur was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, Belia and Filemon Acevedo and his Grandmother Isabel Perales. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Anderson- Bethany Funeral Home. A mass of the resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Juan Gutierrez O.F.M. officiating. Arthur was cremated pursuant to his wishes. The family would like to give special thanks to Gabriel and Eloise Pino-Vasquez, Monica Garcia, Dr. Constance Hardy and the staff at Roswell Regional Hospital. Though he put his arms around him And whispered, come with me, With tearful eyes we watched him suffer And watched him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We couldn't make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us. He only takes the best.
