Barbara Rodriguez, 69, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Barbara’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. On January 20, 1955, Barbara was born to Genobevo and Elfida Chacon in Roswell, NM. She grew up in Roswell, NM with her siblings. She married her love, Chris, on May 19, 1973, in Roswell, NM. She attended Roswell High School, where she graduated in 1974. Prior to retirement, Barbara worked as an Educational Assistant for the Roswell Independent School District for 26 years at Chism, Military Heights, and Parkview Elementary Schools. She was a member of St. John’s and St. Peter’s Catholic Churches all her life. For many years, she and Chris instructed the confirmation classes where they mentored many teens on their journey with Christ and made many lifelong friends. Barbara and Chris were married on May 19, 1973, in Roswell, NM. Recently, they celebrated 50 years married and 56 years together. They shared an adventurous life shopping, traveling, and raising their girls. Many of their days were spent at sports events for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Together, they were also dedicated members of their church. Those who knew Barbara knew she loved with all her heart. Her love was unconditional. Barbara's love for others was evident in all she did, said, and shared. She had a great passion and gift for guiding the youth to Jesus Christ. She was Nina to most. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Barbara are her husband, Chris Rodriguez; her girls: Brenda Acevedo (Larry), Letitia Benitez (Lazaro), Bianca Gonzales (Raymond III), Gabriella Castro (Danny Jr); grandchildren: Marissa Torres (Alexus), CeeAudra Wright (Kyle), Ethan Benitez, JayLynn Benitez, Raymond Gonzales IV, Richard Gonzales, Danny Castro III, Aizlynn Castro, and Jordan Castro; great-grandchildren: Jaiden Wright, Jocelyn Wright, Journey Wright, and Chevelle Wright; siblings: Sylvia Gonzales (Roy), Daniel Chacon (Debbie), Genobevo Chacon (Clara), and Franklin Chacon; special sisters-in-law: Betty Rodriguez and Beatrice Romero; numerous nephews, nieces, and Godchildren. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents: Genobevo and Elfida Chacon; her brothers: Samuel Chacon and Henry Chacon; and her sister, Celia Chacon. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Paul Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez, Lazaro Benitez, Raymond Gonzales III, Danny Castro Jr, and Kyle Wright. Blessed to be chosen as Honorary Pallbearers are Maggie Urias, all her godchildren, nephews, nieces, and confirmation students. Those who knew and loved Barbara will miss her immensely. There will be a visitation/viewing at Anderson-Bethany on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Praying of the Rosary, will be held at St. Peter’s Church at 111 E. Deming St., Roswell, NM 88203 on Friday, March 22, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Charlie officiating. Barbara’s tribute was written in her honor by Letitia, Bianca, Gabriella, Marissa, and CeeAudra.
