Bobby Pendergrass

Bob was born on March 29, 1933 in a farm house near Anton, TX. He was the son of Wade and Callie McGrew Pendergrass. He is survived by his sister Betty Garvin Burris of Saginaw, TX, and sister-in-law Nancy Dumiven. He follows his brothers Eddie Pendergrass, Marvin Pendergrass and wife Gerry. Matt Pendergrass and sister Sandra Scott through the heavenly gates. He is also survived by his loving wife Marian Jo, stepsons Mike Campanella, Blaise Campanella and wife Dixi, their children JJ Mendoza, Ashlie Valverde, and Chanse Campanella, Tony Campanella and wife Natalia, and their children Brandon and Vanessa Campanella, as well as six great granddaughters, and a great grandson who is on the way. He will be deeply missed by all, especially his broken hearted wife, friend, and lover of forty-eight years, his three dogs, and three cats. Having grown up on a ranch in New Mexico, Bob never lost his love of nature. He cherished all of his time outside, and every New Mexican sunset he was able to see. During his younger years Bob and his brothers Matt and Marvin formed a Western Swing band and played professionally in New Mexico and the surrounding states. Bob loved to reminisce on his musical career and especially the times he played at the Win-Place and Show in Ruidoso, where he met his lovely wife of forty- eight years. After meeting Marian Jo, Bob became ready for a family life and was quick to settle down. He achieved his Masters in psychology and went on to work for the Division of Vocational Rehab in Roswell. For thirty-five years Bob would work and counsel individuals with disabilities, many of whom he made lifelong friends. Bob later moved on to work for the 5th Judicial District Defender Department as a sentencing representative, where he tirelessly worked for individuals whom would be better served in treatment programs than in prison, while at the same time saving tax payers thousands of dollars. After his retirement in 1998, Bob spent much of his time outdoors, playing in the dirt, building a Koi pond, collecting Box Turtles, and enjoying his favorite football team, The Dallas Cowboys. Bob and his grandson, Brandon were Dallas Cowboys buddies. He also found a way to rekindle his love for art by joining a local writers group and writing western stories. Bob will be cremated and his final resting place will be the Columbarium of Assumption of AVD Church. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 am and a mass at 12:10 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Pacquing officiating. Pallbearers will be his sons Mike, Blaise, and Tony Campanella, and grandsons, Brandon and Chanse Campanella. Honorary pallbearers will be his brother-in-laws Van and Gary Welch. In remembrance the family asks that all donations be made to the All Saints or AWA. Services are under the direction of Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory.
