A funeral service for Carylen June Tarvin, 63, of Roswell, will be held Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 11:00 am at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home with Jimmy Tarvin officiating.Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Carylen passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007 at home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Tuesday,8:00 am-8:00 pm and Wednesday, 8:00 am-9:00 pm. Carylen was born December 19, 1943 to Oscar James Reid and Mary Evelyn Reid. Brought to Roswell as an infant, reared and educated in Roswell having graduated from Roswell High School in 1962. Married Larry Neal Tarvin on June 24, 1961 in Roswell who survives her of the family home. She was a paralegal and clerk by profession. She began college when her children were grown and graduated from ENMU-R in May 1993 with an associates of applied Science Degree in paralegalism. She did her internship with the public defender’s office in 1993, and worked for 5 years at Days Inn as a front desk clerk. Carylen is survived by her husband, Larry Tarvin of the family home, her daughter, Deborah Melancon and her husband, Terry of Roswell; her son, Larry Wayne Tarvin and his wife, Linda of Roswell; six grandchildren, Randy Melancon of Sheridan, Wyoming; Rick Melancon of Roswell; Amanda Tarvin of Lubbock,TX; Larry Wayne Tarvin III of Albuquerque,NM; Marrissa Tarvin and Angel Tarvin of Roswell; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Tarvin and Caitlyn Glass of Lubbock, TX; her brother, James Reid and his wife, Donna; sisters, Betty Morgan and her husband, Dwight, Julie Hawes and her husband, David and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Carylen was preceded in death by her father, Oscar James Reid; her mother, Mary Evelyn Reid and a stillborn granddaughter, Angel Tarvin. Pallbearers will be Larry Wayne Tarvin III, Terry Melancon, Randy Melancon, Rick Melancon , James Reid and Johnny Melton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Oldker, Kenneth Oldker, and Walter Tarvin.The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Vista Care staff, Dr. Raes and Community Home Health staff. Services are under the direction of Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory.
