Obituary for Charles R. “Dogie” Hare On Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 10:15 am., Dogie left this earth and went into the arms of his heavenly father, after a short bout with cancer. He was at home, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. We are deeply grateful for Vista Care Hospice and all their wonderful staff for being there for Dogie and the family. Dogie was a lifelong resident of Roswell, from the age of 5, having been born in Portales, NM, on May 29, 1936. While in the Navy, he proudly served in the Korean War. He served in national defense and for the China service. Dogie is survived by his wife and best friend of 44 years, Mary, his daughter, Robin Casady, of Roswell, grandson, Bryan Massey, of Las Cruces, granddaughter, Tamara Davis, of Melrose, and great-granddaughter, Julia Davis. He is also survived by his sister, Kay Moleski (husband Paul), of Sebastian, Florida, brother, Ross Hare (wife Louise), of Roswell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Dogie in death were his parents, Jim and Florence Hare, his brother, Jim Hare, his uncle, Tom Hare, nephews, Jon Ray Hare, Jim Tom Hare, and niece, Jessilyn Hare. Dogie was a hard- working man his whole life. His most recent jobs, after retirement from the NM State Highway Department, included part-time brand inspector and Dogie’s Tractor Work. Dogie was a devoted husband and father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He could always be counted on for help when needed. He has touched the hearts of many people during his lifetime. His special interest was the Chaves County Sheriff’s Posse, of which he’s been a member for 40 years. Dogie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service for family and friends is planned for 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, at the Chaves County Sheriff’s Posse building, 1403 E. Poe. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 23, 2012 at South Park Cemetery with Danny Sons officiating. Military honors will be provided by Roswell Veteran’s Honor Guard and New Mexico National Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dogie’s name to the Chaves County Sheriff’s Posse.
