Obituary for Clara Louise Thurman Our beloved Clara Louise Thurman passed away on Tuesday morning, December 13.th, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Thurman; her parents, Ervin H Sullins and Ruby Lee Sullins; two brothers, James Dale Sullins and Ervin H. Sullins, Jr; and a great-grandson, Gage Phillips. Clara Louise was born September 20th, 1936, in Crescent Hill, MO. She attended school in both Crescent Hill and Adrian MO. She was married to Glendel W. Thurman on Nov. 28th, 1954. They lived in Butler MO until 1969, when they moved their family to Roswell, NM. Clara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always happiest when surrounded by her family and extended family. Her greatest joys included taking her grandchildren camping and fishing, attending birthday parties in the park, and having her grandchildren spend the night on a Saturday night so they could attend church services with her on Sunday. She loved to travel with her husband Glen, and over the years they traveled to all 50 states. She had a deep love for animals and mothered many beloved cats, dogs, birds and fish. Clara Louise had a career in nursing, working for Dr. Emmitt Jennings and ENMMC prior to her retirement. She is survived by her six children: Linda Sanchez and husband Tony of Pflugerville, TX, Tim Thurman of Bunker Hill, WV, Anita Lidy and husband Steve of Roswell, NM, Becky Winkler and husband Joe of Ft Worth TX, Pam Cibak and husband Richard of Roswell, NM, and David Thurman and wife Esabel of Roswell, NM. Also, surviving her are 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren with two more on the way, and her devoted dog and companion, Max. Clara is also survived by a brother, Vernon Wayne Sullins of Berryville, AR. Services will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 17th, 2016, at Central Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Randy Eftman officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to either her church, Central Church of the Nazarene in Roswell, or to the local Animal Humane Society.
