Dale Hudson

Funeral services for Dale Hudson, 69, of Roswell will be held at 2 pm Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Harley Parnell officiating. Dale passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Dale was born on Dec. 9, 1937 to T. C. “Dock” Hudson and Lola Odessa Pruitt Hudson in Portales. He and Beth Akins were married on Dec. 22, 1988 in Las Cruces; she survives him at the family home. Dale was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Valley Swingers Square Dance Club, and the Blue Bells Square Dance Club. He was a certified pilot, who enjoyed flying his airplane, calling square dances, fishing, hunting, and watching his grandchildren in their sports. In addition to his wife, Beth, Dale is survived by his brother, Bill Hudson of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Doris Mayberry and her husband, Wayne, of Elephant Butte, NM; children, Robbie Higgins and her husband, Jim, of Roswell and Lisa Garthwaite and her husband, Donnie, of Artesia; step-children, David Turner of Roswell, Matt Turner and his wife, Laura, of Katy, TX, Chris Turner and his wife, Pam, of Hobbs, and Jason Turner of Novato, CA; grandchildren, B. J. Tinker and her husband, Terry, of Kermit, TX, Jamie Higgins and his wife, Christina, of Roswell, Dusty Higgins of Midland, TX, Clayton Garthwaite of Amarillo, TX, and Ryleigh Garthwaite of Artesia; step-grandchildren, Sarah Williams and her husband, Chris, of Plainview, TX, and Rayan and Jarad Turner of Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Bran and Chaley Tinker of Kermit, TX, and Taylor and Nathanael Higgins of Roswell; special friend and mother of his children, Jodell Davis; special friend, Horice Freeman of Hagerman, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Odessa Hudson, sister, Joy Lavern Hudson, brother, Gerald Leon Hudson, great-grandson, Rode Owen Tinker, special friend, I. V. Freeman, and numerous aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-laws, Jim Higgins and Donnie Garthwaite, step-son, David Turner, and grandchildren, B. J. Tinker, Jamie Higgins, Dusty Higgins, Clayton Garthwaite, and Ryleigh Garthwaite. The family requests donations be made to the New Mexico Chapter of the ALS Association P.O.
