Damian Drew Mandonado Bernal “Bowie,” passed away at his home on March 18, 2024, in Roswell, NM, at the young age of 18 years. old. He was raised in Artesia, NM majority of his short life. Damian loved to listen to music, play video games with his uncles and cousins. He loved to joke around and make people laugh. “Bowie” was truly a free-spirited person who very much loved by everyone around him. Damian is survived by his parents: Candice Bernal of Artesia, NM and Matthew Mandonado of Roswell, NM; siblings: Alaiha Salmon, Alyssa Salmon, Edmundo Ray Garza, Camryn Mandonado and Nora Mandonado; grandparents: Veronica Bernal of Roswell, NM and David Bernal Sr. of Artesia, NM; great grandparents: Dora Ybarra, Manuel Valdez, and Aurora Trujillo; Damian is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him very much. Damian is preceded in death by his grandparents: Norma Gonzales and Dick Mandonado; great grandparents: Henry Trujillo, Elidio Gonzales, Epifania Torres, Juan Torres; uncles: Jeremy Bernal (Uncle Erm), Benjamin Valdez Sr. (Uncle Ben), Moses Bernal, Daniel Bernal, Richard Lucero, Gilbert Lopez, Daniel Mandonado, Margarito Mandonado, and Fred Olivares; aunt, Rebecca Trujillo; great-great grandparents: Enemenzio and Antonia Ybarra of Artesia, NM. Damian was a person who had a smile and laugh that was contagious, he always managed to see the good in every bad situation. He was a smart, strong, funny, free-spirited, loving, caring son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, who is always going to be remembered. So…..”Bowie”….Until We Meet Again….like you were always taught to say…”This isn’t goodbye…this is see you later.” We Love You….Always and Forever. There will be a viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. from 10 am to 8 pm. A Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 10 am. Interment to follow at South Park Cemetery. A reception will follow at The American Legion in Roswell, NM.
