Funeral services for Daniel Jenks , 69, of Dexter will be held at 11 am Monday, August 27, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Dexter, NM with Pastor Steven Deutch officiating. He passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family gathered by his bedside on Friday, August 24, 2012. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 8pm, Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory. He was born on February 28, 1943 to Daniel and Barbara (Thompson) Jenks in Colbert, Oklahoma. Daniel, a true patriot of America, was determined to serve his country in the armed forces. He enlisted in three branches of the service only to be honorably discharged within a short time because of health issues. He loved his family very much and through the years he built each grandchild their own personal rocking chair, each of his children their own china cabinet, a complete bedroom set for his sister-in-law and other pieces of furniture not only for family but friends. He was the “go to person” for everyone who had any type of mechanical, plumbing or home repair problem. All you had to do is call Daniel and he could tell you exactly how to fix anything broken. He was excellent in working with wood and loved making anything for anyone. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita Jenks of the home, his children; Sandra and Salvador Padilla of Roswell, Karen and Michael Miller of Lubbock, TX, Lucy and Armando Reyes of Odessa, TX, Roman and Debbie Jenks of Lake Charles, LA, James and Dina Jenks of Roswell, NM, Rocky and Marsha Jenks of Lamesa, TX, his grandchildren;, Shawn and Shannon Kern of Roswell, NM, Sara and Adam Perales of Portales, NM, Hanna Tankersley of Pineville, LA, Amanda Tankersley of Odessa, TX, MaryAnn and Sean Connolly of Lawton, OK, Brandon and Ivory Reyes of Odessa, TX, Shada and Matthew Mireles of Dexter, NM, Eric Reyes of Hawaii, Phillip Jenks of Lake Charles, LA, Ben Jenks of Lake Charles, LA, Isabella Jenks of Roswell, NM, Myranda Jenks and Ian Jenks of Lamesa, TX, great grandchildren; Ethan, Dominic, Korbin, Misty, Christopher, Gavin, JJ, Caytlin, Mariah, Jordan, Te-Jon, James, Mia, Autumn, Jaylynne, Kaylynne, Aubrey, Izais, Xavier, Easton, Brilee, Jacen and Elliott. He will be missed by all who knew him. Those serving as pallbearers will be James Jenks, Rocky Jenks, Shawn Kern, Salvador Padilla, Ian Jenks and Phillip Jenks. Honorary pallbearers will be Mario Rivera, Armando Reyes, Brandon Reyes and Roman Jenks. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Barbara Jenks and his granddaughter, Tabitha Reyes.
