David Goins

Services will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at 11:00 am for David Ray Goins, 44 years of age, who passed away September 2 in Amarillo, Texas. Dr. Hugh Burroughs of the 1st Presbyterian Church and Pastor Terry Aiello of the Corona Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery David was born on December 21, 1961 in Roswell, NM to Linda K. and Kenneth R. Goins, who survive him at their home in Roswell, NM. David was a graduate of Roswell High School where he was a proud member of the band. His love of music was evident as he carried the drums and played the guitar. His artistic talents provided many people with the beautiful custom made crosses and angels which were so unique. David worked for years in the grocery business and was later involved in the Teen Challenge and Faith City Ministries in Midland and Amarillo, Tx. There, he was an instrumental part of the band & choir which was well renowned for their style of gospel music and ministry. He was also a member of the Cowboy Church of Amarillo, Tx. David’s personality and love of the Lord brought many people to Salvation through the years. David was continually more concerned with others than himself, and was especially evident by his love of his brothers in Christ. Many of his friends and family will always recall his sharp wit and joking manner. Everyone who knew David will miss his humor, polite mannerism, magnetic personality, love of others, and extreme talent. David was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Bessie and Sophus Madsen, and paternal grandparents, Lena Mae and James Allen Goins. He is survived by his parents, precious aunts and uncles, Betty Frost, Lula Madsen, Gerald Madsen, John & Shirley Sechrist, Carroll and Beth Madsen, Martha & Dwayne Dickerson, Gayle Madsen & Judy Taylor, Clair Madsen, Wayne and Gay Madsen, Sandra & Gene Lee, Geneva Collins and Archie Topping, Connie Ellis, Virginia & Charles Ward, Stanley & Barbara Goins as well as numerous cousins and special friends. Pallbearers are Joe Trujillo, Eddie Herrera, Gary John Sechrist, Tim Hodges, Tommy Frost, Terry Frost and Harold Pressley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Julie Hodges, Amy Davis, Janet Russell, Sharon Fromhold, Lee Madsen, Nancy Madsen, Mark Madsen, Eric Madsen, Lisa Williams, Christy Turnbough, Sandra Perkins, Kenrick Collins, Edwin Ward, Chuck Ward, Debbie Emmanuel, & David Bell.
