"Dee" Delia Etta Cagle

“Dee” Delia Etta Cagle, 90, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and “Granny” to all, passed away on the morning of August 27, 2018, at the home of her daughter in Roswell, surrounded by her daughters and loving family. Dee was born on April 11, 1928, in Luther, Taylor County, Texas, to Andrew J. and Virginia (Martin) McCall. Dee and Willie E. (Shorty) Cagle were married on October 14, 1946, in Callahan, Texas. “Shorty” preceded her in death on February 18, 1982. Dee is survived by her daughter Linda (Bobby) Witchley of Roswell, and Linda’s family as follows: grandsons: Stanley (Shorty) E. Russell (wife Jamie) of Roswell, and Dustin Russell and wife Destiny of Midland, Texas; great-grandchildren: by Shorty: Quinten Lane Russell of California, Selah, Anthem and Kyrie of Roswell, Kyrie; By Dustin: Brody of Roswell, and Jorden Lujan of California. Dee is survived by her daughter Jackie (Harry) Crosby of Marion, Ohio, and Jackie’s family as follows: grandchildren: Nicole (Donald) Eaton and Clayton (Amber) Cagle of Marion Ohio; by Nicole: great-grandson Logan and great-granddaughter Lillian Delia both of Marion, Ohio; by Clayton: great-great-grandchildren: LJ, Ariella and Riker all of Marion, Ohio. Dee is also survived by her daughter Betty Sue Gallagher of Roswell, and grandson Rickey L Beagles, Roswell, great-granddaughter Celese Beagles, Sheila Andes and special daughter Betty D Beagles, Dawn Marie Hays and Carrolyn (Jason) Holloway and son Aaron and his son Jayce. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Virginia Carter of Portales, NM, niece Terry Lanphear, Tuscola, Texas; nephews: James Steward, William Steward, Bill Idalman, Charles Idalman. Also nieces Shelley Carter and Sherry Brandvik, Sue Sherbahon, and too many other nieces and nephews to name. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Shorty Cagle, sister Velma (AV) Steward, brother James (Sonny) Carter, son David Cagle, daughter Lois Beagles, grandson Ronnie Beagles, granddaughter Sherry Andes, granddaughter Brandie Cagle, and nephew Bub Carter. Dee and her husband lived in Tatum for many years until her husband’s death in 1982, where she was the town baby-sitter and helped raise numerous children. Dee was also second mom to many of the teenagers that hung out at her house. She then moved to Roswell to live with her daughter Linda. Dee was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved children, and many of those she baby-sat for, still call her Granny. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Dee will be missed terribly but is in a better place now, singing with the angels and with all those who passed before her. A celebration of her life and funeral will be held on Friday, August 31, at 10 am at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home. Viewing with be held Thursday 8 am to 7 pm at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home.
