Diana Elvira Casillas

With great sadness, the family of Raymond Gonzales and Diana Casillas, 71, shares her passing from this life on March 9, 2017, at her home in Roswell, NM. Diana was born on January 4, 1946 in Eagle Pass, TX, to Rodrigo and Teodora Escamilla Fuentes. A service will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017, 10:00 AM at St John the Baptist Catholic Church. A homemaker, Diana loved to cook, especially enjoying time with her family. Among favorites of hers were: cherry coke, thrift shopping and garage sales. Diana put up a very tough fight with the illness she battled through. Her family would like everyone to know that she WAS the true meaning of ‘true love’ – always giving and always thinking of others before herself. Surviving to cherish the memory of their dear Diana are her children: Lucy Salas (Pete), Luis Casillas, Fatima Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales (Joyce), Brian Gonzales, Ryan Gonzales, Johnny Gonzales, Lupito Gonzales; best friend/sister, Viola Vigil; sisters: Maria Belia (Nena) Hoff, Noemi Garcia, Irene Myers, Lupe Valdez; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Diana was preceded in death by her children: Sonia Casillas, Adolph Casillas, Lourdes Gonzales, Josephine Gonzales; brothers: Jessie Fuentes, Rodrigo Fuentes Jr; and sisters: Maria Elena De Los Santos, Maria Luz Rangel and Juanita Espanza. Pallbearers will be Pete Salas, Justin Sanchez, Andy Isaacs, Tim Rocha and Clifford Garcia. Thank you, Mom, and Dad, so much, for teaching us our customs, values, (cuentos) and traditions that many generations will never get to experience. When I am gone, release me, and let me go. I have so many things to see and do, you mustn’t tie yourself to me with too many tears, but be thankful we had so many good years. You gave me love, and very much happiness. I thank you for that love that was shown, but now it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me a while mom, if grieve you must, Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a while that we must part, so treasure the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away for life goes on. And if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I will be near. And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear, all my love and round you soft and clear. And the, when you come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and “Welcome You Home”.
