Dorothy Kittrell

A funeral service for Dorothy Edna Hobbs, Meeks, Kittrell, 80, is scheduled for 10:00am Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Sons officiating.. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery in Roswell. Visitation will be Monday, December 20, 2010 from 11:00-5:00 and Tuesday from 8:00-8:00. Dorothy passed away December 18, 2010 at Artesia at General Hospital. She was born April 2, 1930 to Mae J and Calvin Hobbs in Denton County, Texas. Dorothy was a kind and gentle woman who never saw fault in anyone. She had the love and patience to raise 8 children and was very proud of her family. She is loved by all and will be greatly missed. God created mothers like Dorothy because he couldn’t be everywhere. She spent her last couple of years in Artesia with Deborah and Kenneth and later in Heartland Care Center. She was known as the “pink snuggie lady” at Heartland Care Center. She was preceded in death b y her parents, two sons: Richard G. Meeks and Robert A. Meeks; one sister Betty J. Williams; great grandchildren Randy Contreras and Faith Meeks. She is survived by her husband Roy Kittrell of Roswell; her children, whom she adored and loved dearly: Johnny E. and Jackie Meeks, Roger D. Meeks and wife Sherry, Judy Marling and husband Wesley, Susie Russell and husband Ronnie, Edward E. Meeks all of Roswell, and Deborah D. Jones and husband Kenneth of Artesia; one sister Shirley A. Blanscet and husband Tommy of Wichita Falls, TX; and a longtime friend Nelda Odell. Dorothy has 20 grandchildren including Deanna and Tommy Contreras of Dexter, Heather and Dave Pollard of Artesia, KP Jones, and Brian and Damie Jones of Ft Worth, TX; and 33 great grandchildren including Mackenzi Contreras of Dexter, Zachary Pollard of Denver, CO, and Aaron, Kolbyn, Bryce, and Madyson Pollard of Artesia; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jr. Russell, Billy Marling, KP Jones, Chris Meeks, Tommy Contreras, and David Pollard. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
