Dotia "Jo" Ellen Crawford

Dotia “Jo” Crawford peacefully passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018. Her devoted husband was beside her, as she was welcomed into the gates of Heaven. A Celebration of Jo’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 10:00 AM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, with Tim Arlet officiating. On March 6, 1938, Dotia “Jo” Ellen Sexton was born in Lexington, Missouri, to Oswald “Ozzie” Sexton and Zela Anderson. She married the love of her life, Franklin D. Crawford Sr., on December 22, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared sixty years of love and laughter together. Making their home in Southern California, they welcomed their oldest daughter, Kelley, into the world. A few years later, Frank Jr. was born, followed by Debbie. Jo made it her lifelong goal to be the best wife and mother she could be to her family. While living in Southern California, Jo worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Human Resources. In 1972, she and Frank moved to Roswell, New Mexico. In Roswell, Jo worked as a cashier at the SacNSave, a production worker at Longhorn Manufacturing and as caretaker at Mission Arch Care Center. She enjoyed bowling in the local leagues and playing bingo. Jo was passionate about cooking and spent many hours in the kitchen. Her dill dip and “green stuff’ were some of her family’s favorite dishes. Her collection of “Lock-N-Lock” containers stored many more of her favorite recipes. Known as “Mom C” at the Dragway, Jo loved going out and watching her family and friends race. She loved visiting and hanging out with the crew at the track. Jo, also lovingly known as Grandma and Auntie Jo, will be missed greatly by her family. Preceding Dotia in death were her father, Ozzie; mother, Zela; daughter, Debbie; and brother-in-law, Kenny Crawford. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Frank Sr. of the family home; daughter, Kelley Crawford and Steve of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Frank Crawford Jr. and Misty of Kerrville, TX; sister, Jean Sexton of Carson City, Nevada; brother, John Sexton and Margie of Fort Mojave, Arizona; sister, Mickey Crawford and Craig of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Tony Crawford of Las Vegas, Nevada; aunt, Doris Henderson of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Joey Yates and Jenny, Tyler Crawford, Josh Yates, Tanner Crawford and Tillie, Jason Grear, Andrew Crawford and Charlotte, and Ethan White-Crawford; numerous nieces; nephews; and seven great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the nurses of Kindred Hospice for their tender care.
