Obituary for Dow L. Kennon Funeral services for Dow L. Kennon, 77, of Roswell will be held at 10 am Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home with Ministers, Harry Tackett and Jerry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery. Dow passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Dow was born on August 23, 1930 to Joy’a J Kennon and Eugena Mable Chambers Kennon in Memphis, Texas. He moved to Roswell in 1944. Dow was a member of the West Alameda Church of Christ. He served with the National Guard in 1948. Dow was known by many trades a truck driver, owned a Mr. Fix-It Carpenter Shop, to name a few, in 1969 he went to work for RISD as a carpenter, remaining there until his retirement. Dow enjoyed working in the yard, helping people, creating things from wood, art, and playing with his grand and great grandchildren. His greatest joy was watching his Christmas light train; watching the cars passing by and looking at them as they made their way around his light display. Dow is survived by his wife, Hazel of Roswell; daughter and her husband, Angie and Terry Diel of Roswell, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nick Humble of El Paso, TX, Loren and Chelsea Humble and their children, Loren II and Noa of Las Cruces, NM Shaun and Jose Nunez and their son, Jose IV of Roswell; step grand and great-grandchildren, Kelli and Todd McKnight and their children, Caitlin, Trace, and Caroline of Pittsburg, KS, Cathy Boman of Dallas, TX, Christopher Diel and his daughter, Reegan of California; one brother, Joe and his wife, Shirlene Kennon of El Paso, TX; sisters, Lavina and Don Reha of Carlsbad, NM, Gene Cole of Roswell, and Lou Ella Nelson of El Paso, TX; sisters-in-law, Ivy Kennon of Levelland, TX and Margie Kennon of Roswell; numerous nieces and nephews; one special niece that sat with him night and day, Shyrle Hauf; close friends, Forrest Metcalf and Harry Tackett; and Larry and Leigh Humble. Dow was preceded in death by his mother and dad, two brothers, Jim and Wilfred Kennon, his best friend and brother-in-law, Robert Williams, and many close relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Forrest Metcalf, Nick Humble, Loren Humble, Larry Humble, Jose Nunez, Ray Fuller, and Terry Diel. Honorary pallbearers will be Loren Humble II, Jose Nunez IV, Noa Humble, Trace McKnight, and everyone whom called Dow “friend”.
