Edwin Ray Ferguson

Edwin ray Ferguson, 64, went to be with the Lord in heaven on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque. A Celebration of his life will be held on his birthday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ’s Church 2200 N Sycamore Ave., with a reception to follow. Edwin was born on March 3, 1961 in Elyria, Ohio, to Leonard and May Ferguson. He attended school at NMSD (New Mexico School for the Deaf) in Santa Fe. He was married twice and was blessed with 5 children, and numerous grandchildren. Edwin was unique and very creative. He was like a diamond, with many facets. He was strong, funny, he loved to dance, work with wood, build bicycles- and made a few unique ones. One from a motorcycle and another one from a riding lawn mower among others. He also loved Legos and made some awesome working vehicles from them. Some of them were remote control. He enjoyed remote control cars too. He would play with them on the sidewalk and took turns with his 2 youngest sons. Edwin is survived by his current wife of 28 years, Jonice Ferguson, his children (in order of age) Jon Griffin (37), Edwin Ferguson Jr. (35), Valerie Ferguson (31), Len Ferguson (28), and Billie Ferguson (26). His grandchildren: Anastasia Griffin, Harley Griffin, Dean Ferguson, Davion Harves, Dalton Harves, and Kailani Harves, Eden Meaders, Everly Meaders, and Cinder Ferguson, and all his beautiful daughters-in-law. Siblings: Sandra Barnhill, and many nieces and nephews. Aunts/Uncles: Ben Cole, David Cole, and Rose Sample. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Kathy Wright and Patricia Rupe; and his brother Leonard Ferguson Jr. A special thanks to Christ’s Church and all my brothers and sisters there for making this beautiful service possible, to Lovelace Regional Hospital in Roswell and Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque for the wonderful care for my husband, Edwin, in his final days, and to Anderson Bethany for making this process easier to get through. Also to Vernie Dockal, Jailei and Rounder Moore for walking with me though each step. Edwin’s tribute was lovingly written by his wife Jonice.
