Elizabeth "Beth" Kaye Andrus

Elizabeth Kaye Andrus, better known as Beth, left this life after 62 years on March 19, 2022. “It’s a beautiful day” she would answer anytime you called her house; she still used a landline, because in her eyes it was always a beautiful day. Elizabeth was born to Lawrence and Betty Andrus in Roswell, New Mexico. She brought sunshine and happiness into any room she entered. To know her was to love her. In her presence, you would never be short on smiles, songs, silly sayings/facts or love. She had the biggest heart and would literally give you the shirt off her back, often to the chagrin of those closest to her. It didn’t matter if she knew you or not, she loved you, always saying, “You never know what an angel looks like.” She met the love of her life over 20 years ago. After their first date, she knew that Ronnie Devenport was going to be stuck with her for life. If you ever needed a safe place to go her door was always open, both literally and figuratively. She always had warm food, hot coffee, cold drinks, and a shoulder to cry on. Only giving birth to one child, she was known by so many as Mom. Elizabeth was also known as a friend to anyone who met her. Mima, as she is known by her granddaughter, found so much joy in sharing her love for the ordinary adventures of every day, such as finding shapes in clouds or picking up tiny snail shells from the front yard. She loved waking up in the predawn hours to look for shooting stars that she could make wishes on. You could never be around her without hearing one of her silly songs that she had made up for her granddaughter or being informed about the newest Hallmark movie. For over 30 years she has had her own beauty shop, but she was so much more than a cosmetologist. She was a therapist, a counselor, a life coach, a confessor, a doctor, and at times a bad influence. The Polishing Post was a safe space away from the world for so many, she would make you feel beautiful inside and out and that is what made her happy. Her joy came from making others feel special and loved, whatever that meant for you. She was the embodiment of kindness and spent her life trying to teach others how to love unconditionally by her example. Waiting to walk with her from this life to the next is her is granddaughter, Isabella; her parents: Betty and Larry. Left here to try and carry on her legacy of kindness are her love, Ronnie; daughter, Kadi; granddaughter, Sophia; sister and brother-in-law, Betsy and Mike Winfrey; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lori Andrus; sisters in love, Genia and husband Daryl Devenport, Peggy and husband Dave McIntosh, Susanne and partner Lynn Devenport; multiple nieces and nephews; all of her honorary children; and all of her dear friends that she counted as family. A special thank you from Ronnie and Kadi to her nearest and dearest friends who were always there for her at a moment’s notice, even on that last day. She was surrounded by love, light, and joy. A party to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, in the courtyard of the Roswell Museum,1011 N. Richardson Ave from 11 am-2 pm. Please come and share memories, laughter, and love, just like she would have wanted. Don’t forget your foil hat!
