Elizabeth Lawrie

Elizabeth Alden Lawrie passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in her home in Roswell, NM. Please take a moment to share a kind thought or memory with Beth’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. No local services are planned at this time. Elizabeth was born on April 30, 1934, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Kit and Ev Addoms. She was the second born of a set of twins, following her twin sister Mary into the world. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Balson and former husband Dr. John William Lawrie of Crawfordsville, Indiana. She will be treasured and remembered by her sister Sally Smith, brother Sam Addoms, and sister-in-law Cathy Addoms; her three children, Mary Lawrie-Kopcik, Bruce Lawrie, and Kathy Therber along with their spouses, her six grandchildren, Michelle, Emily, Matthew, Isaiah, Sophie, and Cora; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews and friends. Our family is grateful and richer for the gifts given and the joys Beth created in our lives. We could always count on her in tough and trying times. We’ll remember her creativity and appreciation of life, art, animals, and nature; her infectious laugh, humor, and irony. Her comforting presence was felt in the meaningful times she shared with us, many of which were at Glen Lake, Michigan. Faith and music filled her life. She was an accomplished pianist with a beautiful voice. She enjoyed participating in church choir and being a vestry member at various churches. She was most proud of returning to graduate school and beginning her career as a social worker in family therapy in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and Beloit, Wisconsin, after raising her family. The family thanks the staff at Lovelace Regional Hospital for all their care, which allowed Beth to return home, where she was able to pass in peace. We would also like to thank the team from Gentiva Hospice, whose care and concern for both Beth and the family were unmatched. Additionally, we are grateful to all the private duty caregivers who provided Beth with love and support in her last days. Finally, to all the staff at Peachtree Village, we extend our gratitude for the community you created for Beth.
