Esther Acosta

Obituary for Esther Hinojos Acosta Esther Acosta was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Vicente and Erlinda Hinojos on September 16, 1934. She came to New Mexico in 1947 where she met and married her husband, Emilio Lara Acosta on April 14, 1951 in Loving, New Mexico. They made their home in Midway, New Mexico. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a Eucoristic minister. Esther was a homemaker and worked at Levi Strauss and Chaves County Joy Center. She spent her life honoring her husband, Emilio, and raising her 11 children and helping with many of her grandchildren with the strength, loyalty, love and dignity that she would carry to the end. She was generous and spent her life providing what she could for others. She passed surrounded with profound love and gratitude; always with her family at her side. Esther is survived by her children and their spouses: Victorina Garcia, Arturo Acosta, Alonzo Acosta, Sylvia Eaker, Sabas and Yolanda Fuentes, Velma Acosta, Norma and Rudy Archuleta, Lorene and Juan Montoya and Rudy Acosta. She is also survived by her brother Reuben Hinojos of Spirit Lake, North Dakota, and sisters Vickie Calderon of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Elidia Navarette and her husband Mike from Hesperia, California. She is also survived and adored by 31 grandchildren and 90 great-grandchildren. Preceding Esther in death is her husband Emilio, her two sons Emilio Acosta, Jr. and Felipe Acosta, her brothers Jose Hinojos and Manuel Hinojos. She is also preceded in death by four grandchildren, Elizabeth Garcia, Amanda Acosta, Michael Acosta and Leslie Acosta, two beloved son-in-laws Antonio Garcia and Danny Eaker. A viewing is scheduled on Sunday, September 6, 2015 and Monday, September 7, 2015, 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. A rosary will be held Monday, September 7, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at South Park Cemetery next to her husband Emilio, following the 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. John’s the Baptist Church. The family will receive guests at Eagles Lodge for a luncheon following the funeral services. Pallbearers will be Arturo Acosta, Alonzo Acosta, Rudy Acosta, Aj Alfaro, Phillip Acosta Jr, Juan Montoya Jr and Andy Gray. Honorary pallbearers are all of her grandsons and great grandsons.
