Esther Aguilar

Esther Mendez Aguilar, 87, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018. Our beloved mother and abuela completed her life’s journey while surrounded by her family. Celebrate Esther’s life by visiting www.andersonbethany.com to offer a memory or expression of sympathy for her family. In 1931, Esther was born in Wiley, Colorado, to Antonio and Mauvricia Mendez. On August 18, 1949, she married Roberto Cirilo Aguilar and moved to La Esperanza, Texas. They moved to Artesia, New Mexico, in 1965 and made it their home. Esther was an amazing and hardworking mother who dedicated herself to raising her children and to being a devoted wife. Throughout her life, Esther was involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She actively participated in her church, Our Lady of Grace, activities. Esther was an avid reader and an excellent cook, and enjoyed embroidering, sewing and gardening. She inspired others to live life to its fullest and will be missed by all who knew her. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto of sixty-one years; sons: Fermin, Hector, Jesus Aguilar; grandchildren: Robert Lee, Brandon, Anthony, and Demetrio Aguilar, Marlon Thompson; parents: Antonio and Mauvricia Mendez; and sister, Rebecca Mendez of El Paso, Texas. Esther is survived by eight children: Robert and wife, Elida, Hilda and husband, Frank Sanchez, Esther Aguilar of Roswell, New Mexico, Ramon, and Olivia Aguilar, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Octavio of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arturo and wife, Beniece of Texas, and Pedro Aguilar of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren: Rene, Fabian Aguilar, Francisco Sanchez and Gabriela Sanchez Graebner, Marissa, Danielle Aguilar, Estevan Franklin, Crisela and Christopher Aguilar, Kimberly Watts, Safire Florez, Rebecca and Eric Aguilar, Erin Aguilar, Julian Aguilar; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces of El Paso, Texas. There will be a Viewing on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary, 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, 2609 S. Main, Roswell, New Mexico. On Thursday, March 29, 2018, there will be a Viewing at Our Lady of Grace Church, 1111 North Roselawn Street, Artesia, NM, from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM, followed by a Rosary at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Rosary at 10:00 AM. Father Vijay will be officiating. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, New Mexico. Special Thanks to the staff and nurses of Mission Arch Center and Heartland. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Rene Aguilar, Francisco Sanchez, Fabian Aguilar, Chris Aguilar, Esteban Franklin, Julian Aguilar, and Eric Aguilar.
