Evelyn Pearl Stoll

Beloved mother and grandmother, Evelyn “Pearl” Stoll, 94, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on July 14, 2016. She was born in Alton, Kansas, on July 8, 1922, to Luther Roy Norris and Ella Bertie Rector Norris. Pearl married her sweetheart Herman in September of 1947, in Greeley, CO. She and Herman began their family raising a son, Daniel, and daughter, Lynnette in Colorado. They later moved to Roswell in 1951. Pearl spent 33 years working as a Stenographic Court Reporter. She was a lifelong member of several organizations. In 1943, she joined the newly formed Marine Corps – Women’s Reserve for the duration of WWII. The quota of Women Reserve was 15 from each state, and there were 450 applicants in Colorado the first month of existence. Pearl was selected as one of the first 15 applicants because of her stenographic skills. Within ten days of selection, she was sent to boot camp in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1975 she became one of the charter members of Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was also a charter member of the Marine Corp Leagues, Roswell detachment. Pearl was very active in her community, including Girl Scouts. She loved to dance; square dancing, folk dancing, and tap dancing were among the favorite. She began tap dancing as a young girl and would perform as an entertainer throughout high school. She also played piano for Sunday school services. Preceding Pearl in death were her husband, Herman Stoll; parents: Luther Roy Norris and Ella Bertie Rector Norris; brother, Bill Norris; son-in-law, Joe Strickland; and grandson, Garrett Stoll. Those honored to carry on Pearl’s heritage are: son, Daniel L. Stoll of Hereford, AR; daughter, Lynnette Strickland of Roswell, NM; brothers: Lee Norris and wife, Donette, of Eaton, CO; Glen Norris of Greeley, CO; Robert Norris and wife, Connie of Cambria, CA; daughter-in-law, Peggy Stoll; grandchildren: Amber Stoll, Jacque Vigil, Jerrod Nease, Bonnie Holman, Waylon Holman; great-grandchildren: Ethan Wilbanks, Sienna Stoll, Emma Vigil, Cassidy Stoll, Mya Wilbanks, Flavio Vigil; and many nieces and nephews remain to cherish her memory. Viewing will be Sunday, July 17, 2016 12-8 PM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 18, 2016, 11:00 AM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at General Douglas McBride Veterans Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband, Herman Stoll. Pallbearers will be: Jonathon Vigil, Ethan Wilbanks, Jerrod Nease, Waylon Hollman, Harold Ramey, and Mike Lawrence.
