Fay Orona: Fay Nieto Orona was called home on Monday, March 11, 2019, after a battle that her heart could no longer fight. She passed away at UMC Hospital in Lubbock, TX, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side. Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019, 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be on Monday, March 18, 2019, 10:00 AM, at Church On The Move. Fay was born on November 14, 1950, to Jose and Guadalupe B Nieto. She was a member of Church On The Move and The 700 Club. Though she couldn’t get out much anymore to attend church, she enjoyed watching sermons on TV. She especially loved watching Pastor John Gray on TBN, and rarely missed The 700 Club. Fay enjoyed the stories of all those who were lost and had found their way to serving God. Not being an extravagant, over the top kind of person, she enjoyed simplicity. The simplest of things in life made her happy. Yet, making sure that her children and grandchildren had the best things she could give, brought her even greater joy. She had a very giving spirit and would give her last dollar if someone needed it, even if it meant she would do without. Fay enjoyed going to garage sales and second-hand stores because she always saw the beauty and potential in the things people no longer considered useful. She would take them home and make them pretty again. Fay was a witty, kind, gentle, loving and forgiving woman, always classy and a true lady. Regardless of what she was faced with, she kept her composure and faced it with wisdom and understanding that surpassed all the chaos, giving her peace and allowing her to pray about it. Hoping for the best and accepting the sometimes not so desirable outcome, she always held on to her faith that Jesus would never leave her to handle it alone. In 1989, she pursued a college education and received her Associates Degree in Business, where she made the Dean’s List every semester. She was asked to be a part of the “Who’s Who” among college students and Phi Theta Kappa, a prestigious honor society for college students who have a 3.5 GPA and above. Fay never used her degree. She just wanted to prove to herself that she could do it. And she did. Instead, she went on to become a Caregiver for the elderly at La Villa Assisted Living and Peach Tree Village. Fay had a great passion for caring for the elderly and just loved them all. But above all else, Fay was dearly loved by her family and a hero to her children and grandchildren. This beautiful, amazing woman, with the most kind and beautiful soul, will be forever missed. Mom, we love you and thank you for all the memories, but most importantly, your wisdom, your unconditional love, and your thousands of prayers for us that you never gave up on being answered. Your faith has saved us. Survivors: Fay is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Anaya and fiance Alfredo Perez; son, Diego Lopez and wife Elora; grandsons: JJ Hernandez, Anthony Lopez, Cenate Lopez, Isaiah Candelaria; granddaughters: Savannah Anaya, Payton Lopez, Chrisstel Candelaria; unborn great-granddaughter Sunshine Hernandez; sisters: Sylvia Diaz and husband Willie, Yolanda Ornelas and husband Smiley, and Esther Gibson; brothers: Larry Nieto, and Ralph Macias; numerous nieces and nephews; close “family” friends: Steve Lopez and Raul Orona; and special companion – her pit bull – Tigger. Preceded: Preceding Fay in death was her son: Joseph Lopez; parents: Jose Nieto and Guadalupe B Nieto; brothers: Tino Nieto, and Eliazar Nieto; nephew: Guillermo Diaz; and brother-in-law: Robert Gibson. If You Could See Me Now If you could see me now, you wouldn’t shed a tear. Though you may not understand why I’m no longer here. Remember my Spirit, that’s the real me. I’m still very much alive, oh, if you could only see! I’ve beheld our Father’s face. I’ve touched my Savior’s hand. The angels all rejoiced as I entered the Promised Land. Beyond the gates of pearl, I walk on Golden Streets. I’ve touched the Walls of Jasper and dipped my foot in the Crystal Sea. The beauty is beyond words, nothing can compare.
