Henry Ponce

Funeral services for Henry Ponce, 68, of Roswell, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Church on the Move with Pastor Troy Smotherman and Pastor Savino Sanchez officiating. Burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be Monday from 6-8 PM at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 1PM til 8PM and on Monday from 8 AM till 8 PM. He passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014. Henry was born May 21, 1946 to Pablo Ponce and Francisca Martinez Ponce in Grandfalls, Texas. He loved to play the keyboard, sing, and was a songwriter. Praising his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ brought him great joy. Henry led his entire family to Jesus and traveled as a missionary to spread the word of God. He was very creative, he liked to fish, and was a handy man. He was proud of his son who retired from The United States Navy. Henry supported, loved, and admired all his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-one years, Lupe Ponce of the family home; three children, Priscilla Ponce Rodriguez and Carlos of Roswell, NM; Steven Ponce and Dee Dee of Oceanside, California and Melissa Ponce and Camilo Nunez of Roswell, NM; two sisters, Vivana Ochoa of Artesia, NM; Eloisa Gabaldon and Pompello of Artesia, NM; two brothers, Jose Ponce of Artesia, NM and Paul Ponce of Roswell, NM; Six grandchildren and spouses, Charlie and Erica Rodriguez, Dezzarai and Eddie Jaramillo, Aaron Ponce, Clarissa and Randy Cobos, Justin Ponce, and Nathan Esquibel; one great - grandson, Malachi Paul Jaramillo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Francisca Ponce, his siblings, Adelita Anaya, Maria Gabaldon, Alvino Ponce and Jesuscita Morales. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Charlie Rodriguez, Aaron Ponce, Justin Ponce, Nathan Esquibel, Randy Cobos, and Eddie Jaramillo. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ponce, Carlos Rodriguez and Camilo Nunez. Following the service at South Park Cemetery there will be a Reception at the 180 building acrossthe street from Church on the Move.
