Jesus Chavez

A rosary will be recited for Jesus Chavez, 58, of Hagerman, at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Fr. Moreno officiating. Burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, NM. Jesus passed away Monday, October 14, 2013. Jesus was born June 16, 1955, in Artesia, NM, to Refugio Chavez Sr. and Manuela Ibanez. He was a musician, electrician, and a cursillista. Jesus was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jesus is survived by his daughter, Hermelinda Ortega and husband, Cruz of Hobbs, NM; son, Jesus Chavez Jr. and wife, Heidi of Ruidoso, NM; daughter, Rebecca Chavez; son, Jose Chavez of Roswell, NM; brother, Joe Chavez and wife Debbie of Artesia, NM; sister, Mary Villa and husband Andy of Andrews, TX; brother, Refugio Chavez Jr. and wife Lola of Albuquerque, NM; brother Pedro Chavez of Artesia, NM; brother, Reymundo Chavez and wife Refugia of Artesia, NM; sister, Pilar Aldavaz and husband, Javier of Roswell, NM; sister, Cruz Ordoñez and husband, Hugo of Fair Oaks, Indiana; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Jesus is preceded in death by his father, Refugio Chavez Sr.; his mother, Manuela Chavez; and a brother, Boy Chavez. I’m Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I am following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah, these things I, too, will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one touched. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now; He set me free.
