John Thomas Caramanica, 61, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Roswell, New Mexico. “You go home, my brother; I will always keep you in my heart. SERVICES: There will be a Memorial Service for John at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM. On November 5, 1959, John was born to Andrew R. and Frances Caramanica in Brooklyn, New York. The family moved from Long Island, New York, in June of 1971. John graduated from Roswell High School in 1977. John went to college and received a degree in auto bodywork and welding and parts countermen. His nickname was “Metal” because he loved heavy metal music and was also called “Big Kipper.” Throughout John’s life, he went to see seventy bands. On Sundays, he and his fiancé, Jean, would go to church. Every year, John and his brother Jerry liked to travel together. They went to North Carolina to see our sisters and family, the beach, and New York to see sports games and site seeing. John lived in Roswell for fifty years. He liked to keep up with college basketball. John’s favorite teams were the 49ers, Chicago Bulls, and the Yankees. He loved to go out with his fiancé, Jean, they went to flea markets and traveled around New Mexico. They had a church home and loved to play tennis and horseshoes. Most of all, they enjoyed being together. John found the love of his life late in life, but he said, “I finally found my cowgirl.” Prior to retirement, John worked at Peter Piper Pizza for thirty years. SURVIVORS: Those left to cherish memories of John are his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews: William, Eric, Elizabeth and Alex, Jodi and Paul, Eric Penelope, William, Joseph, Sabrina, Sophia, Mia, and Payton, Joshua, Raiden, and Brean of Roswell; siblings: Margaret Puotinen of North Carolina, Julia Barboza and husband Bill of North Carolina, Andrew Caramanica of Roswell, Gerald Caramanica of Germany, Frances Hairston and husband Todd of Roswell. PRECEDED: John is preceded in death by his grandparents: Gerardo and Michelina Caramanica, John and Cecilia Butler; and his brother-in-law, William Puotinen, also known as “Putt.” HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Those blessed to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are his friend, Richard Sandoval, and all his co-workers and friends from Peter Piper Pizza. PALLBEARERS: Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are his boss and very best friend, Daniel Sedillo; brothers: Andrew Caramanica and Gerald Caramanica; nephew, Paul Corrie; and his great-nephews: Joshua and Raiden Snow. John’s family would give a special “Thanks” to his team of doctors, Dr. Carrie Flurry, Dr. Minhas, all of his siblings and family near or far, his best Kindred Hospice friends, Daniel Sedillo and family, fiancé Jean, American Cancer Society, Harvest Ministry, and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
