Jose D "Joe" Aguilar

Joe was born in Fort Stockton, Texas on August 15, 1935 to Francisco and Susana Aguilar, he lived his life simple and honest until his death on Friday. His parents moved the family to Roswell which included Joe’s siblings Alejandro, Elias, Moises and Francisco. Once in Roswell he began playing the guitar which became a great love in his life. He always found time to sit around to just “tune” his guitar as he put it. That he eventually turned into a full blown on man concert of which often many others would join in. However one evening at a dance he met the greatest love of his life, Connie Madrid. Connie called Corona, NM home at the time but Joe was known to have made the long trek several times a month to see her, until December 6, 1958 when he finally made her his wife. From their union came 4 boys, all the apple of their eye. The oldest Daniel (Liz) Aguilar of Roswell, Next came Jody (Amy) Aguilar of Roswell, yet 4 years later Anthony (Tammie) Aguilar of San Antonio. Lastly the “Baby” of the boys arrived David (Annette) Aguilar of Roswell. Joe worked as a Truck Driver for the Pecos Sales Distributing for over 30 years. This took him all over Southern New Mexico as well as many other places. His retirement was one relationship he hated to see come to an end as he cherished the many friendships he made over the years. If you ever met Joe you would know what a caring man he was. He would put a smile on your face either by his compassion for life or by his unique, witty and most times surprising humor. He was very humble and always had a positive outlook on life in general. Never showing pressure or stress but always in control and figuring a solution to any cause. His sons would tell you that as a Father he taught them to make Family their number one priority. How to fix just about anything as he was a closet handyman, to say the least, to take time out of their busy lives to wet a hook at the local fishing holes. Go camping or make a family trip. But most importantly root the Cowboys to a winning season. Left to Cherish Joe’s memory include his 14 Grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy (Iris) Aguilar, Gabriel (Victoria) Aguilar of San Antonio, Ashley (Stephen) Cruz, Carla (Michael) Soto, Crystal (Richie) Aguilar, Reanna (Jordan) Wiggins, Aaron (Britney) Linnan, Shelby (David) Linnan, Chaz Aguilar, Morgan Linnan, Zane Aguilar, Xander Aguilar, Gage Aguilar and Cadence Aguilar In Addition are his 10 Great Grandchildren Madison and Braden Aguilar, Canaan and Moses Aguilar, Jameson Gamboa, Leila and Mason Soto, Emma Wiggins, Leighton Linnan and Harper Goodloe. Preceding Joe in Death are his wife Connie, his parents Francisco and Susanna and his brothers Alejandro and Elias. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations in Joe’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice. Visitation will be Monday November 21, 2016 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Rosary to follow. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 22 at St. John’s Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m. His final resting place will be at South Park Cemetery. Those that will honor Joe as pallbearers are Timothy Aguilar, Gabriel Aguilar, Chaz Aguilar, Floyd Bell, Sasha Bell and Alex Bell. The family asks that all food donations be graciously taken to the San Juan Hall (located behind St. John’s) on Tuesday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. Where the family will accept Family and Friends in a celebration of Joe’s life following the services.
