Joyce Griffith

Services are scheduled for 9 am, Saturday, October 1st at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home for Joyce Griffith of Roswell. Joyce left this world to be with Jesus on September 22nd just 2 days after celebrating her 82nd birthday. She was born September 20, 1934, in San Antonio, TX. Cisco Walker will officiate at the services and the burial will be at the Hagerman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Miles, Brian Harman, Larry Shipp, Harry Griffith, Scott Creeger, Dimas De Leon, Ernie Jaramillo, and Floyd Hern. Honorary Pallbearers are James Artzer, Terry Warner and Buddy Harman. Her parents, Theodore and Evelyn Kanouse have preceded her in death. She married Jay Griffith in September of 1980 and loved him every day of her life. Jay preceded her in death in May of 1999. She was a supportive wife to Jay in his mechanic business and she was a great fishing partner for their many fishing trips. During Joyce's life she worked many jobs, sometimes 2-3 to make ends meet. She was not afraid to work and loved people. 41 years ago she was introduced to Avon and became a very successful and well known Avon Lady in Roswell. She provided professional service to over 3,000 customers during her time with Avon. She was #1 in sales for many years and ironically never wore a bit of makeup or jewelry herself. She officially retired in 2014. She won many awards and recognitions throughout her employment and everyone knew her as the Avon lady. Among her awards were a brand new car. She was a hostess to the Roswell Women's League luncheon held every month where she enjoyed visiting and serving the women of Roswell. Joyce was committed to Jesus and spent her life strengthening her relationship with Him. She was a member of the Church of God for over 40 years. She spent countless hours serving and being active in the church. One of her favorite times she served at the church was for a "teen girls" get together. She absolutely loved children and young people. She loved to read her Bible and do scrapbooking. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Lake, and a son, Fritz Wilks. She is survived by daughters: Mary Smith of Roswell, Carol Bartlett of Roswell, Robin Lyon of San Antonio, TX, Toni De La Rosa of Artesia, and Michelle Miles-Harman and husband, Brian of Artesia. She is survived by sons: Dennis Smith and wife, Cindy of La Vernia, TX, and Donald Smith. She was a loving grandmother to numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
