Johnny Juan Manuel Rodriguez was one of those rare souls. Born on July 27, 1987, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Eddie Rodriguez and Juanita Chavez, Johnny grew up in a family so large and loving that counting everyone would be impossible. His sister Dora, his brother ISaul, his nieces and nephews, his aunts, uncles, cousins — all of them were pieces of his heart, and he was a piece of theirs. On June 16, 2026, in El Paso, Texas, Johnny left this world. He slipped away the same way he lived — quietly, gently, and with a strength most people never saw but always felt. His passing left a silence that can never be filled, but his memory continues to speak loudly in the hearts of everyone who loved him. Johnny didn’t have children, but he loved with the kind of sincerity that made people feel chosen. The love of his life was still waiting somewhere in the world — unless you count his car, which he treated like a loyal friend. His days were spent with the people who made his world feel full: his friends, his parents, and two people who became family in every way that matters — Miss Heidi and Dave. Their kindness, their care, their unconditional love for Johnny will forever be remembered with gratitude. Johnny loved the Houston Texans, and he loved art even more. Art wasn’t just a hobby for him — it was a language. Every drawing, every painting, every piece he touched carried a quiet perfection, a patience, a gentleness that reflected who he was. Home was his studio, his comfort, his sanctuary and when he traveled, he carried that same peaceful spirit with him. His trips were not just vacations — they were moments where he breathed in life. To know Johnny was to know calm. He was the definition of a good man — steady, kind, never angry, never harsh. People felt safe around him. People felt seen. People felt loved. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the dialysis center and the new friends he made there. They said they will never forget his smile — a smile he kept even while carrying health struggles he chose to keep private. He never asked for help, even when he needed it. That was Johnny: strong, humble, and quietly brave. Johnny leaves behind a family who will miss him with every sunrise: His father Eddie, Grandma Gabriela, Maria “Jefita”, His sister Dora Chavez, His brother IISaul Chavez and his aunts and uncles: Sarah, Carmelo, Mary Lou, Daniel, Eugene, Lolly, and Eric. He is preceded in death by his mother Juanita, his uncle Henry, Fernando, Eugene, his aunts Rosa and Anna, Terry, Uncle Buddy, and cousins including Savannah, Adrian, and Amy, along with others lovingly remembered — including Guero, whose name carries its own story and ache. We also honor Amanda, Steph, and Crystal, who stepped forward with love and responsibility when Johnny needed it most. Though they weren’t present until he was already in the hospital, they are now the ones helping his father Eddie lay Johnny to rest — standing in the gap, raising the funds, and carrying the weight Eddie cannot carry alone. Their devotion, and the generosity of everyone who donated what they could, has given Johnny the dignity, respect, and love he deserves in his final farewell. Your kindness will never be forgotten. To the pallbearers who lifted him with strength and love, thank you. Johnny’s life was gentle, loyal, artistic, and full of quiet courage.
