Juanita B. Montoya

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother, JUANITA B. MONTOYA, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was 102 years young. SERVICES: The Viewing for Juanita will take place at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, August 7, 2020, at 10:00 AM, a Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Montoya Cemetery in Arabela, New Mexico. Juanita was born on June 12, 1918, in White Deer, Texas, to the late Thomas and Maria Barreras. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In 1931, Juanita married her true love, Manuel R. Montoya, in Arabela, New Mexico. As a result of their happy union, they had six wonderful children, all whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted housewife for 48 wonderful years that she spent with her husband, Manuel, before his passing in 1979. Together they built a life based around family and friends. Juanita was extremely family-oriented and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. Her most treasured memories were the times she baked and cooked for her loved ones. Juanita had an artistic gift that she’d utilize on her crocheting, knitting, and quilting. Family and friends will deeply miss Juanita, and they will keep beautiful memories of her, for she had such a beautiful heart to all who knew her. SURVIVORS: Those left to cherish memories of Juanita are her children: Ermilo Montoya (Irene), Elisa Lucero, Fernando Montoya (Fidela), Maria Oralia Ogas, Jose Montoya, Eufelia Melendez; twenty-three grandchildren; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. PRECEDED: Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Manuel R. Montoya; grandchildren: Rebecca Lucero, Lydia Montoya, and two baby boys; great-grandson, Daniel Aguirre; parents: Thomas and Maria Barreras; brothers: Ramon Barreras and Manuel Barreras; and her sons-in-law: Aristeo Lucero and Henry Ogas, Jr. PALLBEARERS: Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Richard Montoya, Joseph Montoya, Gabriel Ogas, Aaron Dominguez, Gilbert Dominguez, and Tommy Castillo.
