Obituary for Juanita Ortiz Romero A rosary will be recited for Juanita Romero, 89, of Roswell, at Assumption Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at 12:10 pm, with Father Bill McCann officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Juanita went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Saturday, August 23, 2008. She expired with all her children surrounding her. She cherished her children and grandchildren and showered them with love and prayers. She gave us all some of her strength and faith. Juanita always enjoyed doing for her family as they were growing up. She enjoyed and did a lot of sewing. She never worked outside her home and was always there for her children. She also took care of some of her grandchildren. Juanita was born to Teofilo Ortiz and Florencia Montes Valdez Ortiz on November 24, 1918 in Balmorea, Texas on January 1942. She married Trinidad Baldonado Romero. Trini preceded her in death on July 7, 1974. In addition to her husband, Trine, Juanita is survived by her children Minnie Sosa and her husband Frankie, Eddie Romero and his wife Virgie, MaryAnn Romero de Romero, Angie Barnes and her husband David, Robert Romero, Terry Gauna and her fiancé Roy Hite, David Romero, who was our mothers caregiver, Melissa Morales and her husband Gerard and Melinda Romero and her fiancé, Tom Lara. Twenty-five grandchildren, Frances Dubiel, Cindy Medrano, Frankie Anthony Sosa, Eddie Jr. Greg and Eric Romero, Yvette Corral, Michael Angelo and Bridgette Romero, Rene, Jeanette Montoya and David Barnes Jr. Stephen, Kevin and mark Romero, Aaron and Ashlee Gauna, Abryanna Romero and Ambrose Gonzales Jr., Gerard Jr.Gerald, Jared and Jerika Morales, Leroy Fuentes Jr., Melanie Fuentes, and thirty-one great grand-children. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Florencia Valdez Oritiz, Teofilo Ortiz, four sisters; Christina Ortiz Sanchez, Refugia (Cuca) Valdez, Felicita Valdez Chaves and Benita Ortiz, three brothers; Ramon M. Valdez, Remedios M. Valdez and Anastasio M. Valdez, two children; Trinidad (Trinie) Romero and Monica Romero Meeks.
