Kirk Mundy

Kirk Mundy, 58, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Roswell, NM, surrounded by his family after a long-fought battle with cancer. There will be a Memorial Service at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10 a.m. The family will not be receiving visitors at the home following the service. Thank you for allowing the family to grieve. Kirk was born on April 27, 1966, to Elena Vazquez and Radford Mundy in Roswell, NM. While attending Roswell High School, Kirk worked for Polaco Construction. After graduating in 1984, he was employed by TMC/Nova Bus. During his employment with Nova Bus, he earned an associate's degree in electronics from ENMU-R, and his journeyman's license in electricity. He worked for his brother, Victor, at Torres Electric on the side for many years, where he created many long-term relationships. After the shutdown of Nova Bus Company, he earned his bachelor's degree in education and began teaching fifth grade bilingual at Pecos Elementary School, where he retired after 21 years. Kirk was known in his younger years as a great saxophone player and singer in the band Lifestyle, that played Santana, Tierra, and "the oldies". He enjoyed the time he spent with his children and family. Kirk was an avid hunter, an intense golfer, loyal Dallas Cowboy's fan, and excellent teacher. Kirk touched many lives with his quick wit, sense of humor, and loyalty. He is survived by his fiancé, Kathryn Morris; son, Raymond Mundy and his girlfriend, Emily Aspaas; daughter, Adriana Martinez and husband, Isaac; siblings: Irma Nevarez, Elida Mundy and wife, Rhonda, Linda Mundy and wife, Jessica, Joe Torres and wife, Susan, Victor Torres and wife, Yolanda, Lalo Torres and wife, Debra, Jaime Torres and wife, Rosa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elena Vasquez; stepfather, Jose Vasquez; father, Radford Mundy; sister, Rosa Ornelas; brother-in-law, Joe Ornelas; nephew, Joseph Ornelas; and niece, Cecelia Ornelas. A special thank you to family and friends who took care of and supported Kirk during his illness. Kirk leaves us with many wonderful memories that will be cherished by many.
