Lavada Dockins

Graveside services are scheduled on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at South Park Cemetery for Lavada Dockins, 89, of Roswell, NM who passed away January 11, 2012. Casual attire is requested. Lavada was born October 17, 1922 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Will and Iva (Jolly) Carter. Her parents along with her husband Jack Dockins and brothers John Carter, Jim Carter, Reese Carter, Tobe Carter, Spud Carter, and Kenneth Carter, and sisters, Varnell Calajuri, Estell Carter, Joy Dill, and Linnie Jo Coran, preceded her in death. Lavada is survived by one brother, Skinny Carter of Kansas, Daughter, Jacqueline Caple and husband Randy Caple of Roswell, NM, Nephew Lonnie Fuller, of Dexter, NM, granddaughter, Vanessa Whitt and fiancé, John Brackenbush, of Vandallia, Il, grandson, Billy Slape and his girlfriend Rachel Delaney of Roswell, NM, grandson Michael Slape, of Roswell, NM. Great grandsons, Robert and Dakota Whitt, of Colorado Springs, Co, Eli Banks and Silas Brackenbush, of Vandallia, Il, along with her newly acquired four granddaughters, two grandsons, nine great grandsons, and one great granddaughter. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and close family friends Jonna Williams and Susan (Susie) Slape. Lavada, who was called Grandma by many lived in Roswell for the past 60 years and was loved by many friends and family. Although she had not been able to attend church in several years, she last attended Church On The Move and was a devout Christian. Her favorite verses from the bible were John 14:1 and 2 which reads, Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vista Care Hospice and Jasmin Caple for the care and compassion that they showed Grandma in her final days.
