Linda Herrera Mata, 63, passed away on November 25, 2023, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Linda's family at www.andersonbethany.com. There will be a viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 12:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with Minister Rick Hale officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Linda was born on April 2, 1960, in Morton, Texas, to Rev. Paul and Toni Herrera. Linda attended Roswell High School and later studied to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She went on to work at Mission Arch Nursing Home and volunteered her time as a candy striper at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, where she fulfilled her passion for helping others. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, nieces and nephews, and Godchildren. Her favorite pastimes include crocheting, sewing, crafting, and listening to music. The one thing she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her beloved pet dog, Peanuts, whom she had for many years. Things she would never miss included watching "The Price is Right," "Let's Make a Deal," and "Family Feud." You could find her with her sister Debbie, playing her favorite game, BINGO, on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. Linda will be missed by her family and friends. Those left to treasure and cherish memories of Linda eternally are her mother, Rev. Toni Herrera of Roswell, NM; brother, Paul Herrera Jr. of Roswell, NM; sister, Frances Sanchez and husband Mike Sanchez of Roswell, NM.; sister, Debbie Herrera of Roswell, NM; brother, Andy Herrera, and wife Tanya Herrera of Roswell NM.; nephew, Mike Sanchez Jr., and wife Amanda Sanchez of Roswell NM.; nephew, Robert Mendoza and partner Natasha Chavez of Roswell NM.; niece, Esperanza Cisneros and husband Ramon Cisneros of Santa Fe NM.; niece, Mercedes Medina of Albuquerque NM.; nieces: Natalie, Ava and Teyah Herrera all of Roswell NM; great-nieces: Karisma and Isabella Cisneros of San Antonio, TX, Jaelynn Longoria and Thalia Sanchez of Santa Fe, NM; great-nephews: Mikey Sanchez of Roswell NM, Ramon and Romeo Cisneros of Santa Fe, Nm. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Paul Herrera Sr.; niece, Lydia Sanchez; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Blessed to be chosen as honorary Pall Bearers are her beloved Peanuts, Debbie Nunez, Shannon' Shae" Boyle, Angelica Lopez, Veronica Lerma, Maria Reyna, Olga Urbina Rodriguez, and Marci Sanchez, Honored to serve as pallbearers are Bernave De la Cruz Jr., Tino Baca, Alex Linares, Stephen Vegara, Damian Sanchez, Christian Sanchez, Armando Tarin, and Alonso Z. Perales. The family of Linda wishes to extend sincere thanks to Chris, Lydia, Shy, and WY Ortega, MaryAnn and Burt Gorley, Nancy and Berna Prieto, Cammy and husband Domingo (Bubba) Castaneda, Victor and Michelle Alvarado, Pilar, Margaret, Isabelle, and Cenida Gomez, Debbie Nunez, Charleen Hernandez, Becky Aguilar, and Matt and Morgan Pick and family for assisting with Linda's final care. We would also like to thank all family and friends who sent Linda flowers and gifts and paid her visits. Thank you to all caregivers, physicians, nurses, shuttle drivers, paramedics, fire department, comida programs, home health nurses, and care coordinators, and a very special Thank You to all those who helped with yard work and house repairs; your kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Her Journey's Just Begun… Don't think of her as gone away- Her journey has just begun. Life holds many facets. The earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears. In a place of warmth and comfort where no days and years exist. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today. How nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched.
