Linda Mondy

Linda Mondy passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, in Roswell, NM. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Linda’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a Memorial Service at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 11 a.m., fellowship to follow. Linda was born June 21st, 1978, in Hobbs, NM to Steve (now decreased) and Jane Mondy, where she spent the first few weeks of her life until her family moved back to Roswell. She was an adorable baby and a sweet little girl. She loved spending time with her grandparents. She especially loved going to Furr's Cafeteria with her grandma and doesn't every child need a grandma to teach them to play poker. Linda attended Monterrey, Mt View and Roswell High School; she was in gifted. She was Freshman and Sophomore class president and on yearbook staff. At 18 she married Anthony and became mother to a precious 3-year-old, Ivy. The marriage only lasted a few years, but we kept Ivy in the family. Linda and Ivy loved each other dearly, Ivy was her sweet pea. Later she married Fernando, they lived in Albuquerque, then Vegas, then back to Roswell. She also spent 6 months living in Las Cruces. Eventually they went their separate ways. Over the years Linda worked at Tabosa, Golden Corral, TCBY, Baskin Robbins and Red Lobster in Roswell, Albuquerque and Las Vegas. Linda always had a soft spot in her heart for people and animals in need. She brought home strays starting as a child. As an adult she worked with the homeless and mentally disabled. She volunteered and served on committees and won an award in Santa Fe. Linda also faced many health issues. At 11 she fell at the skating rink, broke her hip and was bedridden in a spica cast for 3 months, no more softball for her. That was the beginning. Nine years ago, she was hospitalized and almost died with something called DRESS syndrome. It took a lasting toll on her mind and body. She voiced her frustration at times. Mostly she kept smiling. She’d found love. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed living in the country with all her animals. She looked good, that's why her passing caught us so off guard. Her struggles are over, rich blessings are in store, she is a child of God. Linda will be missed. Linda is survived by her parents: Roy and Jane Huddleston; grandmother, Amelia (Molly) Mondy; daughter, Ivy Brady (Jeremy Burrola); siblings: Christy Brown, Teresa Mondy, Paul Huddleston (Kristen), Roy Lee Huddleston Jr (Celerina) and Sandra Hayes (John); grandchildren: Lexis Meredith, Carter and Kaia Montoya, Mia and Alia Albarez; nieces and nephews: Chelsei Garcia (Jaime Grijalva), Caitlyn Garcia, Paige, Mia and Aidan Huddleston, Eli Brown, Jr, Gavin Wyatt Mondy, Jackson Mondy-Gonzales, Casey Huddleston, Caleb Hayes, Taylor Huddleston. Anthony Bungees Diaz, Angel Tenders Diaz and Vicente Diaz; great nephew, Ryan Ditmore; great niece, Destynie Diaz. And, loving companion, Manuel Garcia; estranged husband and friend, Fernando Diaz and his parents Guillermo and Silvia Diaz; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Linda was proceeded in death by her grandparents: Wilbur and Alberta Wyatt, Otis and Mary Huddleston and Ted Mondy; uncles: Michael Wyatt and Jack Huddleston; great nephew, Miles Ditmore; brother-in-law, Willo Diaz, and niece, Mercy Diaz. Continuing with Linda's love for animals, the family suggests the option of donating to Friends of Roswell Animals at www.forarescue.org or mailing a check to Friends of Roswell Animals at PO Box 366 Roswell, NM, 88202 in Linda's memory in lieu of flowers.
