Lorenzo Orosco

A rosary will be recited for Lorenzo Orosco, 87, of Dexter at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church in Dexter. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 with Father Paul officiating. Burial will follow at Hagerman Cemetery. Lorenzo passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at his home in Dexter. Lorenzo was born November 6, 1922, to Lorenzo Orosco and Paula Alvarado in Toya, TX. He married Paula Quiroz in March 24, 1948. They had twelve children together. He was a member of the prayer group at St. John’s Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved watching his Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves. He always spent valuable time with his family and loved them with all his heart. He was light on his feet and could dance with the best of them. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and doing all of those things in the company of his loving family. Lorenzo is survived by eleven children: nine daughters: Olga Venegas and her husband Tomas of Dexter, Yolanda Gonzales of Dexter, Ernestina Martinez and her husband Martin of Roswell, Sylvia Orosco and her companion Cruz Luevano of Roswell, Lucy Orosco and her companion Johnny Gutierrez of Hagerman, Enedina Cantu and her husband Jesus of Dexter, Susie Velasquez and her companion Chris Jojola of Albuquerque, Sophia Orosco and her companion Eric Madrid of Hagerman, and Jenny Orosco and her husband Celestino Cisneros of Roswell; four sons Lorenzo Orosco and his wife Yolanda of Dexter, and Ben Orosco and his companion BiBi Barela of Roswell, Jose Orosco and Alfredo Orosco both of Texas; thirty four grandchildren; fourty seven great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Enriqueta “Katy” Sanchez. Pallbearers will be Benny Salas, Cedric Jon Gonzales, Anthony Orosco, Jaimie Ray Orosco, Santana Orosco, Lorenzo Orosco IV, Timothy James Aguilar and Daniel Cisneros. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Esquibel, Leo Marrujo and Emilio Salgado.
