Louann Metcalf

Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Louann Metcalf, 74, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, 2:00 PM at South Park Cemetery. Louann was born in Hagerman, New Mexico, to Dolphus Ray Allen and Bertha Mae Harman Allen on February 7, 1943. She attended Roswell High School and graduated in 1961. After graduating high school, Louann begin working for the government as a civil servant for over 50 years. Over the last 20 years, she worked for Wildlife Services. Louann married the love of her life, Martin (Johnnie) Metcalf, in Hagerman in 1960. Louann and Johnnie had on son, John Allen Metcalf. She loved being his mother and doing everything she could to make his childhood as special as possible. Living in Roswell her entire live, Louann enjoyed being around family and friends and would do anything she could to help others. She was the most giving person anyone could ever meet. In 1999, Louann was blessed to see her son marry Tracy Woodard and become an instant grandmother to her only grandchild, Victoria. Louann loved spending time with Vickie and spoiling her only granddaughter as much as she possibly could. She thought the world of her and Vickie loved her grandma just as much in return. Louann lived with diabetes several years of her life and for the last few years suffered from liver and kidney damage from this horrible disease. She fought hard daily, and wanted nothing more to than to live every day for her family. In the end, diabetes won and gave God another angel. We know that she is no longer suffering and is enjoying being with her father again. Those left to cherish Louann’s memory are her loving husband, Marion Johnnie Metcalf; son, John Allen Metcalf and wife, Tracy Dawn Metcalf; granddaughter, Victoria Amethyst Metcalf; mother, Bertha Mae Harman Allen; and loyal pet, Weston. Preceding Louann in death were her father, Dolphus Ray Allen; grandparents: Clarence & Ethel Harmon, Oscar & Annie Allen.
