Manuel Duran Armendariz

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving father Manuel Duran Armendariz. His battle with Dementia ended on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Roswell, New Mexico. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and a rosary will be recited at 6:00pm at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, in Roswell, New Mexico. The Resurrection mass will be celebrated at 10:00am, June 25, 2025, at Immaculate Concepcion, located at 400 6th Street, Dexter, New Mexico 88230. Burial will follow at the Hagerman Cemetery, located at 7670-7996 Shoshoni Road, Hagerman, New Mexico. Immediately following, the Funeral Reception will be held at Archive Venue, 112 West 3rd, Dexter, NM. Manuel was born on September 3, 1947, in Torreon, Satevo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Duran Chavira and Eulalia Armendariz Castaneda. Manuel was proceeded in death by his parents, his son, Manuel Duran and his brother- in- law Jesus Urrutia. As a young boy, he learned to break horses, rope, and work on the farms. As a young adult, he spent many years working for the dairy industry. Manuel was a hard-working man looking to give his family a better life. His greatest love was his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren at any sporting event, playing games with them out in the yard and always playing a game of cards. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing bingo, dominos, traveling, dancing, music and especially horse racing. He is described by his family as a loving father who always had a smile to give, a listening ear with great advice, but most importantly he was patient, kind, humble, loyal and a friend to all. He always put others before himself and helped anyone. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Manuel was a loving father of his daughters, Rosario Lomas (Greg), and Lilia Duran, and his sons, Luis Raul Duran (Delores) and Arturo Duran (Melissa), his daughter-in-law Monica Duran and the mother of his children Soledad Duran. He leaves behind the legacy of grandchildren, who all claim to be the favorite. Sonny, Perla, Adam, Greg, Veronica, Javier, Elizabeth, Ezequiel, Myrka, Raul, Chantel, Jazmin, Joseph, Arturo, Christopher, Joshua, Jacob and Melody and 15 great-grandchildren. His Godsons, Danny Miramontes, Sergio Jurado. Goddaughters, Lupe Zubiate and many more. His Brothers, Monzerrat Duran (Natividad), Baldermar Duran (Cecilia), Humberto Duran (Ma. Elva), his sisters, Maria Elva Duran Meraz (Ramon), and Josefa Duran Urrutia. Honored to serve as Pallbearers: His Sons: Raul Duran and Arturo Duran, grandsons: Sonny Duran, Joseph Duran, Javier Duran, Raul Duran and son-in-law: Greg Lomas Honorary Pallbearers: Blessed to be chosen as honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, his brother and his extended family. The family of Manuel wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Gentiva Hospice- a special thank you to Mayra, Jennifer and Mandy for the wonderful care, the staff of the Memory Care Unit at Mission Arch for the wonderful care given to him these last 6 months. A big thank you to Veronica Orona and her family for the love and care they extended to him. The family cannot thank his Grandson Javier Duran enough for never leaving his side and giving him the best care for the last 10 years. Huge Thank you to ALL the grandkids, his kids and our Meraz family for always being there for him and stepping up when needed. Como joven adulto, pasó muchos años trabajando en la industria láctea. Manuel fue un hombre trabajador que buscaba dar a su familia una vida mejor. Su mayor amor era su familia. Disfrutaba ver a sus hijos y nietos en cualquier evento deportivo, jugar con ellos en el jardín y siempre jugar a las cartas. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba jugar bingo, dominó, viajar, bailar, escuchar música y especialmente las carreras de caballos. Su familia lo describe como un padre cariñoso que siempre tenía una sonrisa para ofrecer, un oído dispuesto a escuchar con excelentes consejos, pero lo más importante, era paciente, amable, humilde, leal y un Se le extrañará profundamente y siempre será recordado. Manuel fue un padre amoroso de sus hijas, Rosario Lomas (Greg) y Lilia Duran, y de sus hijos, Luis Raúl Duran (Delores) y Arturo Duran (Melissa), su nuera Mónica Duran y la madre de sus hijos Soledad Duran. Deja un legado de nietos, que todos afirman ser el favorito. La familia de Manuel desea extender su sincero agradecimiento a Genitiva Hospicio; un agradecimiento especial a Mayra, Jennifer y Mandy por el maravilloso cuidado, al personal de la Unidad de Cuidado de la Memoria en Misión Arch por el excelente trato que le brindaron en estos últimos 6 meses. Un gran agradecimiento a Verónica Orona y su familia por el amor y cuidado que le dieron. La familia no puede agradecer lo suficiente a su nieto Javier Duran por nunca dejar su lado y brindarle el mejor cuidado durante los últimos 10 años. Un enorme agradecimiento a TODOS los nietos, sus hijos y nuestra familia Meraz por siempre estar ahí para él y actuar cuando fue necesario.
