MARIA AGUIRRE, 79, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at her home in Roswell, New Mexico. SERVICES: There will be a Viewing for Maria at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 18, 2021, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Communion service on Monday, April 19, 2021, at 12:00, at Anderson and Bethany Funeral Home. Burial to follow. On September 11, 1941, Maria was born to Concepcion Sifuentes and Antonia Cisneros Sifuentes in Zacatecas, Mexico. She was the beloved wife of Joaquin Aguirre Sr, who she married in July of 1963. As a result of their happy union, nine wonderful children were added to their home. From then on, she applied her formidable talents, drive, and commitment to her family; they were her pride and joy. Throughout their marriage, she provided support, strength, and affection as a devoted wife. She was an inspiring role model, fierce champion, “Super Woman,” and unconditional love source to all her children. As a grandmother, she lavished her grandchildren with wisdom, love, and praise. Maria’s home was impeccably maintained and thoroughly welcoming for the numerous memorable family gatherings that she treasured, it was her priority. She was extremely family-oriented, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking and preparing big family dinners. Maria had a heart of gold and was thoughtful and kind to everyone she encountered, always putting them and everything before herself. She would put her heart and soul to everything she did, to the “T,” they were characteristics of her nature. Her heart was for service, and her life was dedicated to being the best wife, mother, and grandmother for her family. A woman of extraordinary grace, dignity, and style, Maria will always be remembered by those who knew her best and loved her most for her warmth, wit, authenticity, force of will, and intellect. Maria always instilled in her children to get educated and finish anything they started. Her motto to her children was, “Eduquense y salgan adelante.” Maria was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Listening to music, dancing, and crocheting were her favorite ways to enjoy her extra time. Maria had a passion for gardening and planting flowers, she especially loved roses. She was a pet lover, and birds were her favorite. While the sense of loss is grievous, the gratitude for the time Maria’s loved ones shared with her will always remain profound, and undiminished. She was dearly loved and will forever remain in the hearts of her treasured family and friends. SURVIVORS: Those left to cherish Maria’s memory are her children: Joaquin Aguirre Jr, Rosa Aguirre-Chavez and husband Daniel D. Chavez, Maria Sopher and husband Lee, Josie Silva and husband Michael, Leticia Medrano and husband Richard III, JoAnn Mendoza and husband Junior, Jose Aguirre, and Elizabeth McMullan and husband Sean; eighteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; as well as his niece, Maria Perales and husband Jesus and family. PRECEDED: Preceding Maria in death is her husband of forty-eight years, Joaquin Aguirre Sr; daughter, Sylvia Aguirre; parents, Concepcion Sifuentes and Antonia Cisneros Sifuentes; and her brother, Daniel Sifuentes. HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Those blessed to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Joaquin Aguirre Jr and Jose Aguirre. PALLBEARERS: Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Daniel D. Chavez, Lee Sopher, Richard Medrano, Junior Mendoza, Sean McMullan, and Michael Silva. The family would like to thank family and friends who provided support and encouragement. A special acknowledgment with sincere gratitude goes to our sister JoAnn, and husband Junior, and our brother Jose for their love, compassion, and unbelievable commitment. Thank you to Dr. Herrin, Kindred Hospice, Maureen (RN), Rosalia (CNA), and caregiver, Annie Sanchez who provided kind and compassionate care. LETTING GO The Angels gathered near your bed so very close to you. For they knew the pain and suffering that you were going through. I thought about so many things as I held tightly to your hand. How I wished that you were strong and happy once again. But your eyes were looking homeward to that place beyond the sky, where Jesus held His outstretched arms. It was time to say goodbye. I struggled with my selfish thoughts for I wanted you to stay. But Jesus knew the answer and I knew He loved you so. So I gave you life’s greatest gift, the gift of letting go.
