Maria Gamez

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Gamez, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, who left us behind on Friday, August 9, 2024. Maria was the cherished daughter of Catarino and Enriqueta Lerma who have preceded her in death along with her daughter Dora Compean and grandchildren Sabu Rivas and Anthony Gonzalez. Her greatest joy was her family. As a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother she will be greatly missed by all. Maria leaves behind her children: Thomas Gamez, Norma Gamez, Janie Rivas, Yolanda and (Javier) Villa, Joe Gamez, Lupe and (Patricia) Gamez, Mary Gamez, Frank Gamez, Elizabeth Duran, and Raul Duran; her many grandchildren: Raul Duran Jr., Christina Duran, Carlos Duran, Bella Duran, Shelby Gamez, Alycia Gamez, Justin Martinez, MaryJane Martinez, Adam Gamez, Monica Compean, Daniel Compean, Roseann Florez, Jessica Reyes, Martin Gamez, Norma Helen Chavez, Joe Chavez, Lisa Gamez, Ignacio Gamez, Santana Gonzalez, Veronica Gamez, Louie Rivas, Diego Gamez and Duly Rivas; and her many great grandchildren whom loved to spend time with her and play board games or watch television shows. Her family will forever cherish the memory of her warm hugs, wise advice, and the endless love she spread throughout the family. Although she is no longer with us her spirit will live on in all of our hearts. Maria will forever be remembered for her lively sense of humor, her love for her favorite football team, Dallas Cowboys, her support for the United States Marines, and remarkable strength of character guided by an unwavering determination that touched every aspect of her life. Her strong will was matched by a deep sense of compassion making her both a steadfast leader and supportive friend. Through her perseverance and gentle strength Maria inspired everyone around her to approach life with courage and integrity. Her beautiful smile will be forever missed by all.
