Maria Morales

Mary Rumalda Salcido Morales, 92, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Roswell, NM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Hondo, NM Cemetery. Mary was born to Faustino Jr. and Predicanda Salcido on May 27, 1931, on the family ranch in Hondo, NM, and was the fourth out of nine siblings. She attended school in Alamo Canyon and graduated from Hondo High School, where she played basketball. Mary moved to Roswell, NM, where she met her husband and became a mother to four children. Mary always made time for her children, in which she would attend every sporting event for each of her sons. She went on to be a teacher until she retired. Mary was a devoted Catholic, and after retirement, she traveled to Italy, Portugal, and France to visit holy sites. Mary enjoyed praying the rosary every day, knitting, sewing, and watching her religious channel, EWTN. Mary is survived by three of her children and their families: Grandchildren Joseph and Christy, Danny and children George and Carmen, George and son Jacob, and Gerard Faustino Morales and wife, Melissa and their children, Gerard II, Gerald, Jared, and Jerika. Mary had 16 great-grandkids, 1 Great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Mary in death were her parents, Faustino Jr. and Predicanda Salcido; her grandparents, Juan and Emilia Werner, Faustino Sr. and Maria Salcido; her brothers, Albert, David, John, Leo, Melvin, and Eloy; her sisters, Emilia, and Prestinia, her son Jody and grandson Kevin. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are George Morales, Gerard Morales, Gerard II Morales, Gerald Morales, Angelo Romero Blessed to be chosen as Honorary pallbearers are Danny Morales, Jacob Morales, Jared Morales, Jerika Morales, Danni Sandavol The family of Mary Rumalda Salcido Morales wishes to extend sincere thanks to cousin Danni Sandavol and the Hospice Staff. “An angel lived among us, A gift from God above. She showered us with kindness and shared with us her love.” And now take me home to the mountains where I belong. In Lieu of flowers, donate to Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mary’s tribute was written lovingly in her honor by her family.
