Martha L. Fry

Martha Lou “Marty” Fry Martha Fry (Marty) 74 of Roswell, NM, went into the arms of Jesus on August 27, 2024, after a long and well-fought battle with autoimmune disease. Marty was born in Roswell, NM, on June 9, 1950, to Leroy and Jeanne Fry who preceded her in death. She attended Roswell schools and graduated from Goddard High in 1968. Marty worked as an administrative assistant and receptionist. Before retirement she was often referred to as “the voice of Rio Pecos.” She was a member of Christ’s Church, Roswell, NM. Marty was known for her wit and wonderful sense of humor. She wrote skits for the women’s ministry at Christ’s Church as well as writing a humor filled book “Green Chile Grannies”. Her family remembers her always sending funny cards and finding the most unique gifts. She was happy and filled with joy even through her many health challenges. Marty was appreciative of her blessings in life and always unpretentious. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She loved to be with family and had fun participating in games like the free throw contest and a turkey shoot at Thanksgiving. She loved Korean movies, swimming and reading. She especially loved her dear friends including Pat Stuart, Debi Rodgers and her reunions with the 1968 GHS Queenagers. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Marty are her son, David Fry of Rio Rancho; her sister, Jody Alpers (Greg) of Roswell; her brothers-in -law: Jim Milstead of Suwanee, GA, and Clyde Forbes of Colleyville, TX; her nephews: Dale Forbes (Valarie) Azle, TX, Greg Milstead (Allison), Mike Milstead (Denise) Cummings, GA, and Kyle Alpers (Casey) Roswell, NM; nieces: Leslie Forbes Colleyville, TX, Kim LaDuca (Chris), and Emily Grant (Caleb) of Roswell, NM; aunt, Betty Boellner Jones; cousin, Randy Jones of Scottsdale AZ; great nephews: Randy Forbes (Taylor), Scott Forbes (Katy) Ft. Worth TX, Corbin Alpers, Jabyn LaDuca, Cooper Alpers, Colin Alpers, Hudson Grant and Jake Grant all of Roswell, Holton Milstead of Cummings, GA, and Ashton Ikard, Dallas, TX; great nieces: Tevya LaDuca of Roswell, NM, and Alyssa, Megan, Brianna, Kaylin and Addison Milstead from Cummings, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents: Leroy and Jeanne Fry; her sisters: Linda Milstead and Susan Forbes; and her brother, Charlie Fry. Honoring Marty’s request, a family gathering will be held later to honor her memory. A message from Marty to her family (and all) “Be kind to each other and remember, prayer, sleep and laughter are the best medicines.” “I know there is a table prepared for me and I look forward to washing dishes in heaven” (She was our head dishwasher at family gatherings) Each week as she watched church from home, she loved when Pastor Gerry would bless her by saying: “May the Lord bless you and keep you and make his face shine upon you and give you peace.” Marty’s tribute was lovingly written by her family.
