Mary T. Gutierrez, 89 years of age passed away on February 6, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Mary's family at www.andersonbethany.com. There will be Viewing on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with the reading of the Rosay to being at 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Mary T. Gutierrez was born on September 18, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas. She married Cruz B. Lopez at age fourteen. They were blessed with eight children, three girls and five boys. She retired from the school of The Visually Handicap in Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1968. At the age of 53 she completed the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell, New Mexico. Mary retired from Mission Arch Nursing Home, Roswell New Mexico in 1989. Mary was self-taught in the English language, reading, math, and writing. Her strong conviction, motivation, independence, and character made her taller than her five-foot stature. She sighted her greatest accomplishment to be her children and serving God. Her legacy is her children. She loved them with her heart and soul. They will remember the hugs, words, prayers, for each one. The fact that that she tried...not perfectly...but with all the love in her heart. They will feel that love around them: that steady, strong, and never-ending love. They know she always did her best. She loved hard and always kept going forward. Her children know she always believed in each one of them. Mary made sure her children knew they were the shining light in her eyes. Her prayer every night, "Lord, I ask you to protect my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally and in every way. Amen". Mary raised her children to be strong, fierce, confident, humble, God-fearing servants, only because she was these things. Mary's children are stronger, smarter, and braver, she made sure her legacy would be survivors. They will miss the laughing with their mother and realizing how much they truly enjoyed and cherished just being together. They will forever carry her love in their hearts. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Mary T. Gutierrez are her children: Nancy L. Urda and Family, Lynn Inman and Family, Cruz & Tatjana Lopez Jr and Family, Adan & Linda Lopez and Family, Jessie & Dora Lopez and Family, Henry & Nicole Lopez and Family, Daniel Lopez and Family. Mary is preceded in death by her Husband, Cruz B. Lopez Sr. and the Daughter of Jeff Butts. Those blessed to be chosen as Honorary Pallbearers are her Grandsons-Larry Michel Candelaria, Cruz Joe Lopez (CJ), Mariano Luciano Melendrez III (Sport) and Jesus Candelaria-Family Friend. Those Honored to be chosen as Pallbearers are her Sons-Cruz Lopez Jr., Adan Lopez, Jessie Martin Lopez, Henry Lopez, Daniel Lopez, and Grandson-Rico Lopez. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to University of New Mexico Hospital of Albuquerque New Mexico departmental trauma care teams, doctors, nursing staff for their care of Mary T. Gutierrez and for the professional courtesy extended to her granddaughter, Dr. Chanci Lopez, from Naples, Florida for case consult. We appreciate the attentive care and communication that was readily forthcoming. Mary T. Gutierrez leaves numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren with the hope...for each of them...to be all they can be with God in their hearts. Mary’s tribute was lovingly written by her family.
