Obituary for Mary JOSEPHINE Montaño Josephine Montaño, 87, of Roswell passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Sunset Villa in Roswell. A Rosary will be recited for Josephine at 7pm, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am, Thursday, February 23, 2012 at St. Peter’s Church with Father Charlie Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 21, 2012 and from 8:00am till following the rosary Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the funeral home. She was born Mary Josephine Dominguez on December 7, 1924 in Roy, NM to her parents, Fulgencio and Refugita (Martinez) Dominguez. Josephine grew up in Clayton, NM. She married H.”Larry” Montaño in 1942. They spent 69 years together and watched their family grow. Josephine was a very active member of the community. When she wasn’t busy caring for her family, she was volunteering her time with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Josephine was also very active with Good Sam’s at St. Peter’s Church. She loved to dance and spend time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Preceding Josephine in death are her parents, Fulgencio and Refugita and brother, Max Dominguez. Those left to cherish her memory are husband, H. “Larry” Montaño of the family home; daughters, Lorine Torrez and her husband Joe of Anaheim, CA, Dolores Montaño and her significant other Eli Espinosa of Roswell, Clara Bautisto and her husband Rick of Round Rock, TX, and Helen Montaño of Roswell; son, Larry Joe Montaño and his wife Valory of Roswell; sisters, Jenny Lanfor of Roswell, Elvia Trujillo of Roswell, Nickie Connelly of Hobbs, and Tina Wood of Las Cruces; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and thirteen great-great grandchildren. A special Thanks to the Staff of ENMMC and the Nurses and Doctors who took such good care of her. Serving as Pallbearers will be Eddie Ray Duran, Leo Ray Vasquez, Michael Vasquez, Jarrett Hipp, Blaze Nunez, and Edgar Tarin. Honorary Pallbearers include, Anthony Torrez, Annette Duran, Loretta Duran, Nickie Vasquez, Melissa Saucedo, Barbra Lynn James, Jayme Tarin, Mark Wiggins, Robert Torrez, Connie Gonzales, Patricia Vouga, good friend, Cruz Carrillo, and her friends, co-workers, and all the non-profit organizations. To Grandmo and Mammie God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be. Though He put his arm around you and whispered, come with me, with tearful eyes we watched you suffer and watched you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
