Moureen Loyce Sanders, 94, passed away the morning of Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in Roswell, NM. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Grace Community Church, 935 West Mescalero Rd., Roswell, NM. Interment will follow at Hope West Cemetery. Moureen Loyce (affectionately know as “Moffie”) Trimble Sanders was born February 7, 1927, in Amarillo, Texas. She was the first of two children born to Joseph William and Cynthia Wake Trimble. Moureen grew up with her parents and sister Billie Jean in Tucumcari, New Mexico, where she also met Bill Sanders. They were married on March 23, 1947, and moved to California. From there, they moved to Artesia to raise their three daughters and later move to Albuquerque. She eventually moved to Roswell, where she strived to cheer on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in every sport, rodeo, and life event she could. Moureen’s most admirable role was being a wife, mother, and grandmother, which became the focus and pride of her life. The most important activity outside of her home was her involvement as a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (Strangite). In the Church she served various roles such as Treasurer well into her nineties. Moureen always encouraged her family to be strong in the Church and follow the teachings of Christ. Moureen was a devout, compassionate and giving woman with a huge heart. Moureen served as Vice President of New Mexico Supply Company, her family-owned business. She enjoyed being an Artesia Bulldog Booster member for cheerleading and other school functions. She continued her love for volunteering for the schools, to help with her grandchildren’s school activities and always volunteered to drive them where they needed to go after school. In her spare time Moureen was engaged in the community as a volunteer for Saint Mary’s Hospital and Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxiliary. Moureen loved pets, especially her Boston Terrier pups and of course her turtles. Moffie’s door was always open for family, friends, and especially her grandkids. They meant the world to her. As a homemaker, she loved to cook, visit with friends, and drink coffee. She also enjoyed spending time designing and building homes. Moureen will be remembered for her tenacious love of her family and friends, amusing wit, amazing home cooking and hospitality, sense of humor, and selfless generosity. These gifts of compassion are more than learned behaviors. They were characteristics of her nature; her heart was full for service and her life was dedicated to being the best woman for her family. Those left to cherish memories of Moureen are her sister, Billie Jean Weber and family; daughters: Charlotte Riker and husband David, Carol Green and husband Jerry, Deborah McCracken and husband Mike; she was also the best Moffie who ever lived to six grandchildren: David Harwell and wife Dawn and Jeremy Harwell, Clay and Jeff Mahan and wife Amy, Jenna Rosenbaum and husband Brandon and Amanda Bierwirth and husband Nelson; eleven great-grandchildren: Kacey Roberts, Bailey Sorey and husband Pake and Jorie Harwell, Fayth Harwell, Cooper, and Connor Mahan, Zackary McCracken, Abigail Moureen and Amelia Bierwirth, John and William Rosenbaum, and one great-great-grandchild, Lexi Roberts; as well as every friend she ever welcomed into her family. Moureen was preceded in death by her husband Bill Sanders, grandson Jeremy Harwell, parents Joseph William and Cynthia Wake Trimble, and her beloved cousins, who grew up with her. Those honor to serve as Pallbearers are David Harwell, Kacey Roberts, Clay Mahan, Jeff Mahan, Zackary McCracken, Brandon Rosenbaum, Nelson Bierwirth, and Pake Sorey. Those blessed to serve as honorary Pallbearers are Mike McCracken, David Riker, Jerry Green, Gary Weber, Brent Weber, and Charles Haldeman. They always spoiled and loved her deeply. Also, we would like to thank the BeeHive Home and all the amazing and loving caregivers. Elizabeth and her staff were so wonderful to our mom. Our Hospice family of nurses and staff, Takiesha Sauntleroy, Roberta Chavez, Stacy Maxwell, that helped Mom and our family with such love.
