Penny Briseno

A memorial service will be held for Penny M. Briseno at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church in Roswell. Rev. Pete Cook will officiate. Penny was born on July 23, 1937, to Francisco and Isabel Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Ruben Frank Briseno and her husband of 59 years and love of her life Ruben Briseno. Also to have preceded her in death were her siblings: Lonnie Peppen, Lucy Herrera, Erminda (Minda, ‘Minnie) Hollis, Icelia (Sheila) Gonzales, Aurora Gonzales, Henerietta Martinez, Seniada Del Llano and Desiderio Gonzales; as well as her son-in-law and friend Clovis J. Torres. She is survived by her sister, Isabel (Cici) Ortega; and her husband, Steve Ortega; her children: Marilyn Briseno of Roswell, New Mexico, and Christine Briseno-Bove; her husband, Paul Bove of Austin, Texas; and Ruben Timothy Briseno and his wife Sylvia Briseno of Castro Valley California; her grandchildren: Jade Morris and her husband Neil Morris of Fontana, California, Jupree Briseno of Castro Valley, California, and Samantha Briseno-Clarke and her husband, Isaac (Yoshi) Briseno-Clarke; her great grandchildren: Gaje, Saia and Ace Morris of Fontana, California, and Sunny Kalei Briseno-Clarke of San Leandro, California. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Penny held various positions, throughout her life, mostly dealing with electrical wiring of military aircraft and submarines, but she loved more than anything serving her Lord as Church Administrator of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for 62 years serving in various capacities and positions and loved singing in the Church Choir and with the ladies singing group, Grateful Heart. She was very creative and excelled at everything she did including silversmithing, painting, counted cross-stitch, plastic canvas, sewing, knitting and Penny had a unique gift of touching the hearts of everyone she came across in her life, providing a love and kindness granted to her through her faith and servitude to God. She provided comfort to both family, friends and even acquaintances when she knew it was needed. She loved to laugh, a contagious laugh that could make even the most sorrowful heart smile, creating an environment of peace and love wherever she went. We would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Richard Pinon, Jr, Dr. Hamid Feroze, Home Healthcare Nurse Veronica, Yvonn and Elvira of Enhabit Hospice, Rolando Mendoza of Agape Home Care and a special thanks to Katt of Agape Home Care for her dedication and love displayed in taking care of our mother.
